Anyone having problems with the TWOP boards today? When I go to a thread, the page finishes loading but the posts don't show up and I have to refresh the page until they do. This only seems to happen when an ad for some kind of homeowner's thing.

Those dummies at TWoP have closed the Guiding Light forum so Strega can clean up a bunch of posts that don't belong there. Whatever. Just open the damn thread. The show only has 2 weeks left, let the fans discuss the damn show. I know! Are the posts she wants to "clean up" the discussion about the Guiding Light tribute at the Emmys? I don't see what the problem is with discussing that in the Guiding Light thread.

I don't see what the problem is with discussing that in the Guiding Light thread. She opened the thread back and said she had to delete over 200 posts due to off-topicness. And yes, I think the majority of the posts were about the Emmy tribute, but there were also a bunch of posts about organizing a campaign against Proctor and Gamble because their beloved Otalia is never going to kiss or some such bullshit. I can understand those deletions. The Otalia fans are nutballs. *crosses fingers that HotLips is not an Otalia fan*

Heh. No, I'm not. I don't even watch Guiding Light. I just clicked on the thread because I wanted to see why it had been closed. I can understand deleting the campaign stuff, but the Emmy posts are really not that big of a deal.

Delurking to give my two cents on the TWOP forums. My problem with the forums is that, for a site whose motto is "Spare the snark, spoil the networks", there sure isn't a whole lot of humor among the posters. I learned that the hard way when I was trying to find a message board for Degrassi circa season 4 or 5* that didn't consist of 13-year-olds typing in textspeak. I know it's a point that's been made before, but they talk about these characters like they're real people, and then get insulted if you ever say anything remotely snarky about the characters' actions!
*(Don't judge me! It's full of unintentional hilarity!)

No problems at home where I use Firefox with Ad Block, though. Unfortunately, I can't d/l the Ad Block to use at work.

What's with the abject lack of humor over there on the infinitely snarkable HGTV show, Design Star? It seems the only thing the people in the TWoP thread of this very, very serious show want to discuss about the most recent episode is the lack of mulch around a recently erected child's slide. Did the designers surround this house of horrors with a river of razorblades, you ask? Um. No. Just grass. Deadly, horrible grass. Last week they were all up in arms about a room with an cut out of rock fabricated from MDF above a child's bed. He's going to hit his head when he jumps on the bed! Pages and pages of this. Pages and pages of joyless rage. Speaking of ... here's an interesting take on it ... Wow, she got quite the good look at that tattoo - erect nipples and a "come-hither" look. Maybe she was just looking at the hot roofer. That last line has got to be snark, right? Or hopefully the whole post is, because that's the only way it's not batshit and ridiculous. That's the problem with TWOP - you can never tell. And just when you think they're screwing with you - they're serious.

If the fairy had big stiff wings would that be considered porn?

A few years back the posters were generally snarky and hilarious, but just as the recaps have become dull and/or long-winded diatribes, so have the forums turned into just a home for super-fans who often don't have a sense of humor about their shows. I miss the old TWoP. It used to be an awesome place for those shows you loved to hate.
