I used to love reading recaps. Now, I can barely stand it. The dude that writes Gossip Girl recaps writes them almost like fan fiction. Like, he's trying to be poetic and really psychoanalytical about some silly show. And the people that post in the forums for GG are insane. Like, massively obsessed with Chuck and Blair. I mean, they're fun, yeah, but I'm not going to write a three-page essay about the one look they gave each other that one time. Also, the guy that moderates that forum obviously hates it, because whenever he shows up he basically tells everyone to shut up and get freaking lives and shames them for being so involved. It's usually pretty funny though really really condescending.
Also, I love the Venture Bros, and wandered into the thread for the show because I was interested in getting another person's take on a couple things. The people in that thread are also NUTS. Like, some of the posters have these insane backstories and conspiracy theory beliefs that have no support in reality. But they talk about them as if they were fact. And they get really angry if you point out there's nothing to support their theory.
An example, for those that watch the show: There's a poster that seriously thinks that Dermott is Billy Quizboy's kid. And you cannot tell her otherwise. And people constantly threatening not to watch the show if X happens. What? Does the cartoon owe you? You're making threats like the two dudes that put the show together for $200 are really care.
Anyway, yeah. There's some intense people over at that website. I hope they're not like that in the real world and this is just an outlet for their insanity.

Speaking of ... here's an interesting take on it ... Wow, she got quite the good look at that tattoo - erect nipples and a "come-hither" look. Maybe she was just looking at the hot roofer. That last line has got to be snark, right? Or hopefully the whole post is, because that's the only way it's not batshit and ridiculous. That's the problem with TWOP - you can never tell. And just when you think they're screwing with you - they're serious. UGH. Just...UGH. As long as she's making shit up about people, why not go big or go home and accuse Antonio of being a vicious rapist? No, no. A vicious rapist who's also Bigfoot. Built by Chrysler. Okay, the Tubeys are FINALLY over and all we get is stupid click through slideshows with the winners. No snark, no commentary, nothing. What a damn waste of time, TWoP. Try to stop sucking, mmmmkay?

Maybe it's because the outcome was so lame. I can't believe the Terminator show won so many categories. The finalists were more varied and interesting than the actual results. Demian got in a little swipe at the results[/color] in the forums, but I agree that there should've been more snark. And I agree about the annoying slide show. Just post a dang list of the results. |

And The View thread is down for a stupid reason. There were three or four pages about nothing but Kate Gosselin and how much they thought she sucked and they had nothing to do with her stint on The View. Those are all still up, but a few people get a little yell-y and it's Oh No You DIDN'T. Those forums suck.

I've found you have to be really careful about where you go. It seems to me that the soap opera, 90210 (old school) and ANTM boards don't take themselves TOO seriously. I have ventured into the True Blood boards and man, those people are annoying. They act like the show is real. I love it, I've also seen every episode, but damn. Calm down.

I've never seen True Blood but I can totally imagine Twoppers going nuts over this. Is it another show with a sensitive bad guy who needs a woman's love to be rescued? Because that's usually the stuff they'll obsess over.
I hardly read any recaps these days. The shows I watch are either recapped by Jacob or not recapped at all. They have a lot of reality shows on there now and I don't watch those so there's really nothing much to read for me there. I do read some old recaps from time to time which really were funnier than whatever's going on there these days.

The old recaps are HILARIOUS. I read them over and over.
solly79, you're sort of on the right track there. The tongue bathing for Eric and Sookie is just OUT OF CONTROL. For awhile, it seemed as though people would take notes throughout the show and then post this big long blog post to the forum after it aired. The mod got on their case about it and told them to knock it off. That amused me.
This Jacob character has quite a reputation. Don't know much about him.

Oh, Lord, Jacob. He can be very funny, and he can be indecipherable. I had to stop reading his Battlestar Galactica recaps because they got to be 26 pages of mega-pretentious academic-style prose about Grace or something, and I just don't have the time or the energy.
It seems like he recaps half the shows on TWOP.
