I agree that the forums will have a huge meltdown at the end of May, especially after a lot of network shows wrap up for the season.

That Goodbye thread is something else (what does the fish reference mean?). It's so maudlin, like someone died.

I'll miss TWoP, even though I don't post there much anymore. My heyday was during the first 2 season of The O.C. I wrote fanfiction and everything. I've never been that into a show before and probably never will again (newly widowed mother of 5 adopted special-needs teenagers, TWoP/The O.C. was an escape from reality.)

Are they saying something along the lines of "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish?" If so, it's a common and geeky way to say goodbye if you're a sci-fi fan. It's the title of the fourth Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book.

I got curious today, and checked my old username. It had been so long since I had actually logged in I couldn't remember my password. I joined in 2005 and stopped posting a year later. I had one warning from Jacob.

I think it was something about me using I in a post. And that was taken as I was talking about myself and not the show. I stopped posting after that.

I haven't had the nerve to look since the news - are they STILL carrying on about their tragic loss of a place to type?

The whole place just got less funny and more mean as the years went on. Like there was a stampede of pissed off, unemployed bitches joining the board. I always feel, for the most part, like we have each other's backs here. Sure, there are disagreements, but it doesn't feel like people log in JUST to argue. I started to get that over there. No matter what anyone would say, a snotty comeback would show up in no time. And it seemed designed to piss off the poster, not to really even be about the show. But fricken Howard didn't care about that stuff - there were still about 90 "I think"s to be added somewhere! I see her new favorite is - "Don't use symbols for words". That's the kind of &@!$ (take that, Howard!) that probably drove people away.

That, and reading some of the threads on shows was like a mouthful of bile. I'd sometimes go in looking to read something funny/casually chat on a campy bad ridiculous show that I enjoyed, and instead I would discover a pack of angry wolves with no sense of humor. I mean, what do I do with that? Leave, of course. The hive-mind hate could be overwhelming (oops, double animal kingdom stuff going on here).

The only reason I go to TWOP at all these days is for spoilers and even those aren't so good anymore. In the olden days they used to have threads for spoilers with no discussion. Which seemed kinda harsh but considering that most of the spoiler threads these days on TWOP are one vague spoiler followed by pages of speculation I do miss that. Does anyone know of any good sites for spoilers? Mainly for reality shows like Survivor and Amazing Race?

I have been a member there for about 6 years or so. I usually just dropped in casually to read a few forums and have a good laugh. I must say, whoever did their 7th Heaven forum was amazing, it was snark at its best.
