It's a shame the site is going away. But no wonder since the socially backwards control-freak asshole TWoPHoward drove so many people away. Clearly she's too stupid to understand adult conversation involving rhetorical comments and friendly back-and-forth and tried to turn this place into an oppressive AA meeting. She should have used a different name since Kay Howard was a fucking awesome character on Homicide and the jackass who stole her name to moderate here isn't fit to lick horseshit off of Kay's boots. Now she has to move out of her mother's basement and find a real job instead of sitting around for hours and hours screaming at people like a spoiled toddler about "tone."

Fuck you, Howard. GDIAF.

Try to figure out how to use Twitter or Tumblr? I used to fowllow some woman who was obsessed with Sam/Jared Padawhathisface, and there's a bunch of those Supernatural people over there from what I saw.

I really wish there was a way to truly archive some of those TV recaps. Nostalgia and all!

ETA: if you have time (it shouldn't take that long) and are only slightly tech savvy, you can download a free, secure website archiving program to save only what you want to save.

I just save recaps for an entire show and it's on my local computer and set up to look just like TWOP, but without Howard there to piss you off.

I heard that the archiving site Way Back Machine was madly trying to save TWOP as well, since the announcement that they would be closing. I haven't checked this out, though.

I thought the recaps were going to stay up. Only the forums are going away. I grabbed some of the forums that amused me and saved them as word files for future giggles ("Hoarders").

Though I don't really go there anymore, I am kind of sad that it's closing. It's where I discovered the concept of snark. That said, it doesn't really feel like it's going anywhere. One front end goes away and a similar one pops up in the aftermath. Kind of like a retail lot that keeps being recycled for similar businesses owned by different people. Except in this case, it's pretty much the same folks.

I love this site and I’m sorry is going away….but I can’t hold my peace any longer – mod erator: enough already.
The site had just a week to and you STILL couldn't just let people have a free-flowing conversation without butting in with “some dictatorial – “I TOLD you not to discuss XYZ.”

Discussing opinions about grammar and diction ON THE SHOW is NOT off topic….and neither should be a little context from the poster about WHY the person feels that way.

You allow people to use some of the most vulgar language – and discuss and describe body parts and s e x acts -- but we couldn't talk about a cast member’s grammar, diction and vocabulary. Really?

Has the issue been THAT provocative that you couldn't just leave people alone for just a few more days?

The tones and attitudes in YOUR posts – and all the mod posts – were nasty and argumentative: “Don’t discuss this”…”This is off topic,” “This is not the place to discuss that,” “If you want to talk about that go elsewhere.”

And where could we have our say about THAT without threat of being banned? (PM’s may get no response)
Where could we tell YOU that YOUR mod posts are inflaming? No, we just had to suck it up because you had all the power ad mod erator. Because you could ban us.

I held my peace because I feared being banned, and I did enjoy this site immensely. But NOT the overbearing, condescending mod erator tyranny, and the course, curt nature with which it was administered.

You’d think I could be allowed to have my say without censorship.

For the years that I’ve enjoyed on this site I’ve, many times, marveled at the utterly innocent and innocuous statements you lower the hammer on – and the truly insulting comments you seem to ignore and have no issue with.

You’d think for one last week you could have lighten up especially when the conversation does flow freely, no one has been nasty or insulting – and we ourselves don’t seem to be perturbed. But no you had to be rude and curt 'til the end.

But I guess the power is too intoxicating you just couldn't let it go, not even in the last days.

To my fellow posters ….it’s been a pleasure all the same. To the mods you had a nasty attitude when there was no need. That's unfortunate. You came across as small minded, a s s holes...and it sooo didn't have to be that way.

I co-sign almost your whole post, but from my perspective, it was just Howard that was an ass. I post in a lot of forums (mostly the shows with a black cast cause I like seeing my people even when they act ignant *not a typo, these people usually act "ignant" not "ignorant*), and almost all of my 5 warnings and my edited/snipped posts are from Howard about some dumb shit. The other mods were wonderful to me, even when they were correcting me about my rampant "boards on boards" problem.

Side note: I read the Mods' goodbye posts made back in March/April and I noticed that, even to this day, the only mod I noticed missing a goodbye post was Howard. Strange. Even past mods found a way to get their goodbyes posted.
