The Soap Dish thread is still closed; I'm getting the feeling that it's not going to be open again. Damn ridiculous. I know. If they're not going to reopen it, at least move the damn thing so I won't get my hopes up of them ever unlocking the thing.

So I remember complaining here previously about a particular TWOPer and her sockpuppet on the DWTS boards. She came up with this sockpuppet solely to trash a particular pro, but it was pretty obvious that she and the sockpuppet were one and the same, as she has a very distinct writing style. Anyway, this poster no longer uses her sockpuppet in the DWTS forums, because a few of us caught on pretty quickly. However, whenever she wants to tattle on someone, she uses the sockpuppet to make a report in the FTC thread. I mean, seriously? If you're going to narc on someone, at least have the balls to do it under your main username. Don't resort to using sockpuppets. At least the other narcs in the FTC use their own names, for the most part.
And her reports are so stupid, too. I think she pretty much hates this one poster (who admittedly is an annoying stan of the pro she hates). If the stan neglects to capitalize one of her "i"s, she'll rush in and tattle on her for not capitalizing. WTF? Don't you have anything better to do than reporting someone for capitalization? I go to the FTC to see where the juicy drama is; don't get my hopes up by making a report, only to have it be about some stupid thing like that!

I haven't been to TWoP in months, but I decided to read the comments on the Jim and Pam's wedding episode of The Office. And boy, was I ever reminded why I don't go over there anymore. What a pedantic, humorless bunch of killjoys. Someone actually Googled a list of hotels in Niagara Falls to show how unrealistic it was that Michael couldn't find a hotel room. Half the posters were whining about the show not being as good as it was 2 years ago. Not an insightful or interesting comment to be had.

It kills me when the TWOPers are all literal like that. I mean, seriously. It's TV. Fiction! Deal with it!!! Suspend disbelief for 30 minutes! OR go read an autobiography and fact check that.

Yeah, that's about as annoying as people who whip out the dictionary definition of a word to prove their argument. I can understand nitpicking some things that are so unrealistic that they take you out of the story, but the hotel situation in Niagara Falls is one of them?? Especially on a show that's a comedy? I think that is my main beef with the way the board are over there now as well. There are clearly a number of people out there who take everything way too personally. Like someone over in the Glee threads who before the season had really started was getting offended over the jokes about the kid in the wheelchair because they were in a wheelchair. Well, that show also makes jokes about the gay kid, the fat guy, the gal with the germ phobias, the slow guy, the alcoholics, the guy who got his thumbs cut off - the list goes on and on. That's the kind of show it it. I think one of the recappers stepped in and said "If you don't like those kinds of jokes, then I suggest you stop watching right now." But while she may have been one of the few called on it, she is unfortunately hardly the only one takes everything on television extremely personally.

People are being warned for not using IMO?!? I remember having an English professor who would actually take off points if you used "In my opinion,..." in a subjective essay. Her explanation: if you are writing it, and it's a subjective essay, then unless stated otherwise, it's obviously your opinion. The "IMO" type disclaimer is pointless overkill. (Yeah, this prof was a bit of a hardass.....) I've been lurking and skimming the TWoP forums on-and-off for about 6 years now. Just for my own amusement, I wish I had kept a scorecard on the number of times they've shut down The View thread over the years. It's got to be approaching 50+ at this point. They average shutting it down about every 3 weeks. I think you have to be a bit of a masochist to watch The View on a regular basis. (Oh, sorry, IMO, you have to be a bit of a masochist to watch The View.) Back when I was in grad school and couldn't afford to have both cable and good quality beer, I caught The View in an over-the-air broadcast on occasion. I usually lasted about 10 minutes before I was scrambling madly for the remote control. I just read. I don't post anything at TWoP. I figure the minute I do one of the draconian mods will probably warn me for being excessively parenthetical (which I totally am )

TWOP sucks the fun out of everything. I won't even look at the threads/forums for shows I like (especially The Office) because all they contain are a bunch of posts by wannabe Comic Book Guys wanting to be the first to say "Worst.Episode.Ever.", followed by long-ass lists of reasons the show is wrong about some subject or not funny anymore.
I'm afraid to see what they have to say about Community, which is one of the few new shows I like (Modern Family is the other, and I will stay away for similar reasons), because I don't want to read them saying that nothing made them laugh once, or the characters aren't "realistic". And the majority like it, it'll only be a matter of time before they turn.

If it makes you feel any better most posters over there seem to like Modern Family.

I personally can't deal with TWOPers even when they like a show, because they usually harp on and on about how this show is so superior to all the other shows out there.
