They closed the Hoarders thread, too. Apparently for "clean up." One of my posts was deleted -- and yes, it had nothing to do with what was on the show, but sobell's posts, most of which don't either, are still there. I irrationally blame beezer who seems to like to pontificate in the thread when he/she isn't narc'ing on it. Based on time stamps of when the new Hoarders thread 2manyfish started, and when it was closed by TWOP Nikita/tattled on/marked as handled, I'd say beezer got that one shut down too. *shrug* I don't expect it'll ever get re-opened.

People have been warned about not using "IMO"? Oh, good gravy. This really is out of hand.
Now, I understand the use for it, because there are plenty of people on the boards who don't seem to understand what an opinion is unless you tell them that it is an opinion and they will freak the shit out. I've never used "IMO" over there, but I have been careful to qualify posts with things like "I think" or "This is my take on it" and so forth. But really, how necessary is all that? At what point are you catering to the idiots rather than making them calm down and have a normal conversation or risk getting the boot?
That place has really gone down hill. Most of the recappers suck (Potes is still awesome) and aren't at all funny. I understand that a lot of the original crew have moved onto bigger and better things, but their replacements are no where near as good as they were. The forums get overrun with fanatics and/or mods who go a little too nuts with the rules. The Tubey awards used to be fun - and fast. Voting would take place over one WEEK, not several months, and Glark would post the results the following week. Does anyone really still give a shit about them after all this time except the fanatics (which is why they take over them)? Say what you will about Wing, Glark, and Sars, but I really think it was a much better site under their management.

But I also suspect, in addition to beezer's obsession with tattle-telling, something weird is going on there—that thread's been closed for too long to be just be for scrubbing off-topic posts.

I've received 1 warning in the last 10 years but I've received two in the last week in the same thread! I just got a warning for not using "IMO". I also got a warning for editing a post so I could add a response to a post that was written after my initial post (it's bad because it disturbed the flow of the conversation or whatever). I've seen other posters do it before (I've done it before) and I didn't realize it was so bad. I thought it'd be preferable than to making an entire new post.

I was bored and out of reading material this weekend, so I figured I'd check out TWoP's recaps for a few shows I watch. Now I'm remembering why I stopped reading the recaps. They take too long. I've never understood why they wait the full week to recap the show. I'd rather read the recap within a day or so of seeing the show so that it's fresh in my head. Is there a reason why they do wait so long?

Is there a reason why they do wait so long? I'm guessing it's that way (or at least was at first) because most (if not all) of the recappers had day jobs, and the recaps were a little more in-depth than just giving a rundown of what happened in the episode. So it honestly just took them that long and the only deadline was "before the next episode airs." And honestly, they were fun and worth the wait. Now, I find that they generally aren't outside of a few exceptions. Most of them really are just a rundown of what happened, and there's no reason why that can't be up the next day.

The Soap Dish thread is still closed; I'm getting the feeling that it's not going to be open again. Damn ridiculous.

Exactly. They're only slightly more detailed than the recaplets and lack a lot of the humor that they used to have. I was reading some, expecting a bit of commentary on some of the events of the shows, but there was nothing other than the dry facts. Boring. On the other hand, I don't want to have to wade through the forums posts to see some discussion of events, because that's just tedious and repetitious and there's maybe one good post for every five pages.

I don't go there all the time; it's blocked here at work (thanks to me, I'm sure). Do they put some condescending remark in these threads before locking them?
