I didn't even notice any "boards-on-boards" discussion in the Soap-Dish gossip thread.
It seemed like everyone was just really excited and happy to be discussing gossip. And I was sort of excited to be reading about it.
Out of all the threads I've seen over there, that one seemed to be the most benign (in terms of people replying to each other politely and following the rules, etc.). No one even seemed to even argue the validity of the gossip. There might have been general comments about why someone might not think something was true, but no one got upset at anyone. Everyone would just put forth what they knew and there was no real fighting; it seemed like it was more or left up to the reader to figure out on their own whether they believed it or not, which is sort of rare in a gossip thread. I thought the thread was pretty good.
I always thought the soap threads were just sort of self-administered anyway. I didn't realize there was actually a moderator watching over what was going on, because you'd hardly ever see a moderator admonishing anybody (well, except on that Soap Dish gossip thread after it was shut down).

I noticed the Duggar thread was locked and wondered why. I've read it on and off the last little while. Sure, people go off on tangents about various belief systems and related jumbo families, but it's always tied to the Duggars and doesn't go on and on.
And yet, the mod (Strega) just said "Closed. For the usual reasons." Beeyotch.

I read the last page of posts and couldn't figure out either. They seemed to be talking about some other family, but only in comparison to the Duggars. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

The other day there were lots of FTC reports about that thread. The posts reported seemed to refer to different religious and maybe home-schooling (?) programs. It's not a show I watch nor a thread I follow so I really can't attempt to judge the posts' contents but there were a couple that contained no mention of the Duggars and no mention of the show.
I think if a thread doesn't get reported it kinda' flies under the off-topic radar.
It can pay to check the FTC from time to time. Know your finks!

I think this has been said before, but good Lord, the Real Housewives of the OC thread is out of control. Posters have nasty code names for the wives, their significant others, and the kids, and make up "dialogue" between the producers and the stars. It's actually eerily similar to GWOP.
Full disclosure: I find the show (and the housewives) kind of annoying, yet amusing, and so I went off to TWOP in search of snark and to get filled in on storylines, but was totally not expecting that level of vitrol.

There's this annoying poster in the Jersey Shore thread- Bronx Bomber. Not only must she avail us of her legal knowledge at every opportunity, but she loves to name drop the high-end night clubs she frequents where the Jersey Shore cast wouldn't normally be let in. There's this air of "I'm not pretentious, but please please think I'm cool" trying too hard-ness about her. Fortunately the other posters just do. not. care. that she was at Diddy's son's party.

Hehehe, I love checking the FTC and Troll Report threads; I do so regularly. Certain names pop up over and over again. Apparently Malibu65 wasn't sufficiently abashed by a mod who admonished her to stop making such frivolous reports, because she's up to her old tricks and making multiple reports once again.
That said, I am suddenly appreciating TWOP's strict rules on using correct grammar/spelling/punctuation. I felt my eyes starting to cross when I read the newbie's posts, and hers weren't even that bad, not when you consider how many message boards are riddled with text- and chat-speak.
Oh oh oh! I think that poster might have also frequented the short-lived NYC Prep sub-forum. IIRC, he/she got pissy because the documentary Born Rich came up. The poster claimed that s/he was featured in the doc, but it was totally inaccurate and slanted, blah blah blah... right. Thou dost protest too much.

e c0li, I read the Real Housewives thread too! I like to watch it at the gym and I went to the TWoP thread to see what people had to say about an ep, but no one seems to talk about the content of the episode, they just talk about what characteristics the housewives have that they hate. I never know what episode they are talking about and the nicknames are never that clever.
I love the FTC, if I'm out of interesting threads to read, I'll go see what kind of clashes are going on. That's how I would up reading The View thread and I still go back to see what conflicts arise. (I always feel vaguely guilt for enjoying people complaining.)

Really? Hmm...well, there weren't that many participants in Born Rich, so a quick google would likely identify the person if he/she (I'm pretty sure it's a she) isn't totally blowing smoke.

I was curious so I went back to find the post in question. And yep, it's the same poster. Here it is in all its ranty glory: ETA: I put the excerpt in italics instead of a quote box because reading that wall of text in the tiny quote font would give anyone a headache.
