Wait, "defending your spirit"?! Way to be a humanist there, Wills. And here I thought that rather then spending my effort defending "my spirit" against outside forces, I was supposed to be developing it to make the world a better place for others. And in any case, I don't think having a good defense is what Christianity is about either. Somehow I thought, like Buddhism, it was less self-serving.
And "less than .01% of the population"? Fabricated statistics are the hallmark of Scieno-speak. He's definitely protecting his file now. Actors are idiots.

Oh, sweet Lord. No. NOOOOOOOOOO. You mean: "Aw, hell no!", right? The thing that bugs me most about Scientology is that there isn't a central figure saying 'do unto others'. It's more like 'do unto yourself, and let the others take care of themselves, unless they're not Scientologists, in which case they're suppressives or can be sold the 'tech''. I suppose it's hard to be a celebrity and not think the world is all about 'me me me' , but on the other hand, were I capable, I would challenge Will to point out where Scientology has its 'do unto others' law. If he could find an analgo, then and only then will I believe there are any parallels between the fundamentals of both Christianity and Scientology. But I doubt he'd be able to. He's just trying to validate an experience that's stroked his ego.

In other words, treat others as you want to be treated yourself. Same principle but in mumbojumbo $cieno-speak.
I have to admit something, I took a course in scieno many years ago and a lot of the stuff I read in their "tech" is basic common sense but again, it's written in that hard to understand L. Ron gibberish. Course was interesting but I knew it was a waste of $$ and got out of it. I easily left since I didnt have that much money. If you have money, they WANT you, which explains why they go after celebs and the like.

See, I don't think "do unto to others" and "Do not create experiences for others that they cannot comfortably perceive" are saying the same thing at all.
The first exhorts everyone to treat everyone with a basic standard of respect and dignity.
The second seems to say, "other people aren't as intelligent or advanced as you, so try not to confuse their poor wee brains, mmmkay?"
The first puts everyone on the same level- Christian or no. The second implicitly positions Scientologists as the elite of humanity. The first is humbling, the second condescending.

Will's performance in I am Legend is earning good reviews from critics. I hope he hasn't fallen for the Scientology crap because it seems as if his career is completely fine without it. But actors can be so insecure about their success, though.

I really want to see this movie, I'm a science fiction geek. I will admit I am a weenie and am dreading his dog dying. You know something is going to happen to the dog. I saw that 60 minutes interview with Will, I can understand why so many people warm to the guy. He seems so witty, charming, down to earth but very confident.

Not trying to defend Scientology here, but I took it to mean.....essentially be nice to people. But yeah it was wrapped up in Scientology mumbo jumbo. Of course I don't give two shits about Scientology, if a bunch of morons with money are silly enough to get sucked into it....then thats their problem. (Since they don't seem to care about the little people). As for I Am Legend. I am so exciting for this movie. That, Sweeney Todd, and P.S. I Love You are my must sees for the Christmas season. And in case you're wondering....Gerard Butler people, Gerry Butler.

Same here, except that I want to see it just to see how NYC looks like all emptied out. But, yeah, I'm going to need to get spoiled on the fate of the dog before I watch it.

I'm less charitable than the both of you and I take it to mean that it's okay to lie to people (create experiences) if it makes them more comfortable. So John Travolta's sham or a marriage? A-okay because the public would be uncomfortable with a gay movie star.
