WILL Smith is ready to hit the campaign trail for Barack Obama. When asked if he would do what Oprah Winfrey is doing on behalf of the Democratic presidential hopeful, the "I Am Legend" star told The Post's Sandra Guzmán, "Yeah. I opened it up to him. I just gave him a call and asked him to tell me wherever you think you need me. I think he's what the future of America is going to be. Barack represents what I feel is the future of the optimum survival of America." Smith also showed off his Spanish-speaking skills to Guzmán, whose profile of the Hollywood nice guy runs in The Post's Tempo section Wednesday.

So, is Obama running for President or gunning for an Oscar nomination? It's difficult to tell these days.

I don't think Will is either BI or a Scientologist, but I think his wife might be both. I just get the impression that Will is one of those people who wants everyone to like him so doesn't try to offend anyone, ever. Hence his words about Scientology being similar to other faiths. I don't think he was necessarily defending Scientology, rather he was trying not to insult Scientology.

Yeah, I don't believe that he's actually a Scientologist. I read an interview not too long ago where he stated that he looked into Scientology but decided it just wasn't for him. I do think Jada is interested in becoming a Scientologist if she hasn't become one already. If that's true then Will might be defending it due to his wife either being interested in it or actually being one of the clams. Plus, isn't practically a requirement of the clams that you declared CoS the greatest thing ever? If he was a member, I would think they would see to it that people knew about it.

The fact that they use LRH's "tech" to home school their kids, and are now planning on opening a school doesn't bode well for his "I am not a clam" assertion:

Having immersed himself in educational theories while home-schooling his kids, Will Smith says he and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, plan to put that knowledge to greater use by teaming with like-minded parents and creating a full school.

The institution could launch next year, Smith, 39, said Wednesday on Live with Regis & Kelly. He didn't offer details, but said the idea came out of his family's experience in grouping home-schooled children together.

"We started home-schooling our children probably six years ago," he said. "We found about eight or nine other parents that home-school, so we put them together. ... There's just very powerful educational concepts that we believe in, and we feel like 'I want to design the system that revolutionizes public education.' "

The Smiths have two children together: Jaden, 9, and Willow, 7.

In 2005, Jada Pinkett Smith told Essence that the decision to home-school was based partly on the family's extensive travel schedule – but also on dissatisfaction with the other options.

"The school system in this country – public and private – is designed for the industrial age," she said. "We're in a technological age. We don't want our kids to memorize. We want them to learn."

And what happened to all his "Tom has made me realize I want to have a big second wedding in Italy for my tenth anniversary" talk?

On another topic, Will Smith said Wednesday that he and his wife aren't planning anything major for their 10th wedding anniversary, which falls on New Year's Eve.

"I've been saying, 'What do you want to do? It's been 10 years!' " he said. "And she was like, 'You know, pretty much we'll probably high-five, smack each other on the butt, say good job, and go to bed.' "

No one in their right mind would want to go to a school Will Smith had anything to do with. Isn't he the one who was saying you don't learn anything from books? I bet his and Jada's idea of "schooling" is like that new "free school" thing some people do, where their kids decide what they want to learn, and do whatever they want all day long. (IMO that is NOT schooling.)
