It would have been kind of amusing if she had gone. And everyone in the media probably would have been all like "Betty White is way cooler than Justin Timberlake!" Just for that it would have been kind of funny.
Though his video came later, I thought this Marine had the best video.
Maybe he'll get an autograph out of it however.

I would way rather go with Betty than Justin or Kunis. She seems like she'd crack jokes and have fun all night. I don't blame her for turning the guy down though.

I would rather do anything with Betty White. She reminds me of my grandma. I love her! She definitely got the best video invitation.

What...they won't give her the day off? Not cool, TV Land. I would suspect that she never asked. This was just a gracious way of turning him down. The first Marine Ball invitation was kind of cute, the ones after that have a strong whiff of taking advantage of the situation. Yeah...these invitations need to be nipped in the bud. Nip it! Nip it! Nip it in the bud![/Barney Fife] I am going to cut Betty some slack about why she can't go to the ball. I don't think taking the day off of a show when you are one of the stars is that easy to do. Think of all the people necessary for filming a TV show. If Betty were to miss a day, and needed a day to make it up, it would mean bringing all those people back and paying them, not to mention if they already had commitments for their day off.

Oh I think Betty is just smart enough, and has been around long enough, to know that accepting one invitation will lead to a landslide of famewhores of all kinds inviting you to all kinds of stuff. It's better to decline nicely, and nip it in the bud (tm: Barney Fife).
Mila and Justin are being morons for going full blown publicity whores on this one. Now it's going to look terrible when they start turning down invitations from sick kids, etc. (and you cannot accept all invites, no matter who they're from).
Team Betty!

Exactly. We have already seen more videos asking celebs after the one directed at Mila was successful.
I have no idea here the ball is "her" Marine wanted her to attend since they take place around the world (a former professor attended one in Moscow a couple of years ago). But traveling can be exhausting, and even more so when you get get into your senior citizen years. As energetic as we get to see her, we have no idea how she reacts when she has down time. Flying across the country takes it out of people 1/3 her age, so I would imagine it takes it out of her too.
I need her to take care of herself because she has to live forever.

After seeing the way Betty handled her invite, I now wonder if Justin and Mila's were really a publicity stunt.
Betty wasn't cornered on tv (but now I'm wondering if that could only happen with some pre-planning ahead of time since journalists questions are vetted), but she was able to handle declining pretty well. I was wondering how one would go about declining one of these things graciously, but as usual, Betty shows us how it's done.

(Hey, the search function worked correctly!)
Did anyone catch Betty White's Birthday show on NBC tonight? Really funny and sweet and fun to see some TV Shows of the 70's that I grew up watching. She really is a national treasure!

I have to go back and watch it. But I'm watching the new show she hosts, "Off their Rockers" and seeing Betty do these little intros with MASSIVELY HUGE glasses of booze is hilarious.
I love you, Betty!
