But next week, without Betty? Back to the same old painfully lame crap. Next week is Alec Baldwin, so it should be as good or better than Betty's. He always brings it.

Saturday Night Live is itself not a funny show at all. The only times it appears funny is when someone good like Betty White hosts. They live or die by whoever is hosting, because the material itself is so bad. I have no idea why the show is bad though. I've seen people on Facebook put together much funnier things while holding down a full time job.

I'm not trying to jinx her, but something struck me and I didn't want to take up the Rue McClanahan thread to state it. But wouldn't it kinda rock if Betty White was like Bob Hope and just kept on being awesome til she was 100? Again, not meaning to jinx her, but she seems in pretty good health and still with all her marbles and wit. That would really just kinda rock!

That would be awesome. I'm kinda sad she never had a movie career like some, because she's hysterical. Like Bob Hope made many comedy films in his youth. Even old people her age who are in good shape and good health seem to slow down a lot in their speech patterns. Like, they might still have their marbles, but they think and speak much slower than they used to. Not her though. She's so fast with the one-liners. Because it can't be heard enough times[/color]......

Since I am a night owl, I am watching old episodes of the 25,000 and 10,000 Pyramid on the Game Show Network at 2 am. Betty White is on this episode-and you know what? She is a pretty good game show player!
(By the way, her last husband Allen Ludden was a game show host of various forms of Password. I found that out by watching GSN too. I think that Betty has been on all versions of Password at this point.)

Betty was an amazing game show player. She was kind of known for it back in the late 70's - early 80's. And even though Allen Ludden (HUGE in the Game Show circuit back then) was her husband and they probably practiced at home a lot (Password was a major success) Betty was probably one of the best Celebrity Password players (next to Vicki Lawrence and Bowzer from Sha Na Na - of all people!).

I love that Betty was still rocking the Password game when it did a revival a year or so back. She was on fire!
I told Mr. Spin, if I ever got on that show, I'd want Betty as my teammate because you're guaranteed amazing clues and responses. She's brilliant.

I'd be willing to bet that all those word games are part of the reason that Betty's still sharp as a tack at her age. Puzzles, riddles, crosswords, and word games are a great way to exercise your brain and keep those synapses firing.
