I thought Ivanka Trump's dress was beautiful and suitable for a bustier bride as well. Funny how we almost never, ever see this kind of dress on the show, though--everyone wants strapless mermaid dresses, whether they're flattering or not.

I love Ivanka Trump's dress. Maybe the show wants viewers to snark on the brides / families, or the more pleasant brides and families who make sensible dress choices might be too boring.

Is anyone watching the new episodes?
The show had a bride, named Amanda, that was clearly way more into the wedding than the marriage itself. She admitted she had the venue for the reception, the engagement ring, and the cake picked out before the guy proposed. Anyway, she put her consultant through the ringer before she finally found the dress. I had been snarking her the whole time because again she clearly had no idea the commitment she was making. She's just extremely immature. As the camera pans on her walking in her dress she suddenly starts walking really slowly and dramatic music starts playing. I was sitting there thinking, "Oh crap. They're about to announce she's died before the wedding and here I've been snarking her!" The caption reveals, "In a dramatic twist of fate the wedding was called off one month before the big day." Ok, seriously show that sucks and all but no need for the dramatics! You have me feeling guilty there!
I don't know what to make of the bride that was there to buy her 3rd wedding dress. No, she didn't change her mind of the first two. She just decided she wanted three dresses and her fiance was just letting her. Camile had a constant, "WTF?!" look while dealing with her.

Thanks for the recap, angelaudie. I watched the episode but missed the "dramatic twist of fate..." announcement. Also, major WTF from the bride with three dresses. Was she just indecisive/greedy or was she going to change between the ceremony and reception? I couldn't figure it out, because she said the wedding was going to be at the Disney Pavilion (shudder) with family and close friends only.

It was done in a strange way. The voice overs from the consultants made it pretty clear the fiance wasn't the one that called things off. My guess is he realized he was about to marry an immature woman who was more caught up in the idea of having a wedding than having a marriage.
I wasn't sure either. Really, I don't think the show even knew why she decided she needed 3 dresses. The maid-of-honor said the bride was greedy and the bride didn't deny the accusation. It was just odd. I've heard of brides of buying a dress for the ceremony and another one for the reception but I can't figure out where they 3rd one comes in. I wonder if she just didn't want the wedding dress shopping experience to end.

The groom who kept vetoing his bride's dress choices was obnoxious to the point where I wanted her to call the whole thing off. OTOH, the dress he finally liked was by far the best of anything she had tried on.
Awww, I really liked how Amanda went with the dress that was different than what she'd fantasized about and I thought she looked pretty in it, so on that level, it's too bad she's probably never going to wear it for her wedding. But she seemed really focused on being a bride and maybe not so much on everything else that comes after, and it is better to cancel a wedding than get a divorce.

Any thoughts on the 'Cinderella' bride? Thank goodness her mom was there to make them put lining in the bodice. Getting a sample dress for $12,000 when it was origianlly $31,000 is impressive even though I thought the dress was hideous (can't stand any of Pinea's dresses anyway.) I also don't understand why that bride needed three dresses. From last week's episode, I enjoyed the quirky PhD bride and her Mom. Yay, this thread is back in business! Thanks angelaudie!

Did you write $31,000 for a dress?! That is a down payment on a house!

Did you write $31,000 for a dress?! That is a down payment on a house! Yeah, I often myself saying that. Every now and then the show will feature a very sensible bride that has a budget and sticks to it. One time the show featured a bride whose mother was pressuring her to buy a dress that was way beyond her budget. The bride was finally, "Listen we want to buy a house after we get married! I'm not going to sacrifice my dream of owning a home just to get a wedding dress! Unless you are willing to make up the difference back off!" Mom backed off. Now, if the bride can sincerely afford to buy such an expensive dress then fine. You know it's their money. It's outrageous to me but it's not my money. Then again, I wasn't born with the bridal gene. I wasn't that little girl that planned her wedding and played wedding games. Honestly, the biggest relief for me was when an adult cousin informed me that I didn't have to get married and have kids if I didn't want to. I was little 8 year old girl who was completely stressed out that I was required to get married and have babies when I didn't want to. God bless that woman, who married herself btw, for saying, "Honey, you don't have to do that if you don't want to. Do whatever makes you happy." I'm telling this was quite a revelation for me! Back to the show, did anybody ever see the episode that featured the ultimate Daddy's widdle spoiled princess bride. One of the first things that came out of the woman's mouth was, "I flew in with my dad on our private jet!" I knew instantly I was going to want to strangle this woman. I was right. It was clearly her world and the rest of us just lived in it. She took up 2 hours of her consultant's time and she found a dress she really liked. It was clearly the dress. But she doesn't buy it instantly. Why? She just likes shopping. Her dad says this as if it's the adorable thing ever that his daughter saw no problem in wasting other people's time. She came back 20 minutes before closing and demanded to try on more dresses. If they won't accommodate her then she'll just go down the street. She has not called or anything to ask if someone can work with her at that short notice. She just thinks people should because it's her. Randy does it because Diane is busy. She goes on and on past closing time before Randy is like, "Listen the store is closed. We have to go!" She's all, "I don't get why you just can't keep the store open for me!" I'm sitting there like, "Because they have lives you spoiled cow!" She's in the dress that was clearly going to be wedding gown. Randy tells her, "Hey, if you aren't sure this is the dress then sleep on it. Hopefully, if you decide it's the dress it'll still be here!" Girlfriend decides to get that dress so fast it makes your head spin. How Randy and Diane managed not slap her her spoiled butt is beyond me.

I just saw the "in a dramatic twist..." clip. They don't follow up with all the brides, do they? I know they follow up a lot, but not with everyone, so I wonder why the decided to run that. Interesting.
Daddy's Widdle Princess needed a sharp poke of reality, that's for sure. She was certainly impressed with herself, not to mention, there was something a bit off about getting married two months or so after she met the man. Yeah, I know it can happen and work out to be 70 years of twu wuv, but I have no problems making snappy, judgy judgments on people who share a few minutes of their lives on tv.
