Anyone see last night's? What Randy actually said was in the commercial, and the mother and aunt really were being super Dixie establishment and pearl clutchy. It could be the editing, but it really did look like they bridled when Randy said the "s-word." The bride was laughing, though.

Was that family that were freaking out over the bride actually buying a new dress instead of following the family tradition of wearing the same dress? Hee. They were pretty amusing!
Passive aggressive mom needed to get a grip. Yes, it sucks that her fantasy of shopping alone with her daughter wasn't going to come true but once again it's about the bride and not her! I wonder if she was purposely trying to be difficult hoping the daughter wouldn't buy a dress and she could convince her to go shopping alone.
One of the reruns covered the Orthodox Jewish bride. Her dress was really lovely and showed that modest gowns are out there. I find it interesting they didn't have to build her a dress yet when the Duggars showed up suddenly the store had no modest dresses.

I don't think the Orthodox bride was as strict as the Duggars. Michelle seemed to think that showing collarbone was immodest.

I don't think the Orthodox bride was as strict as the Duggars. Michelle seemed to think that showing collarbone was immodest. I remember reading somewhere that some orthodox Jewish communities also cover the collarbone, but I couldn't say with any certainty which one. That aside, I totally agree that Hindy's dress demonstrated modesty with a sense of style, rather than shapeless, and actually drawing more attention to oneself by being dressed in what a friend describes as "dowdy frumpwear." The southern bride's family was definitely amusing--they seemed to have a sense of humor about not wearing the family heirloom, as well as not getting married in Nashville. It could have very quickly turned into a passive-aggressfest.

True. The Orthodox bride appeared to much more relaxed than Michelle did. Plus, she didn't seem like she had to prove to the world just how modest she is.
Michelle's dress was the definition of "dowdy frumpwear". Now that I think about it they probably would have issues with Orthodox bride's dress. It covered her up but it was also form fitting. It wasn't tight but you could see the woman had breasts and a waist. The Duggars would probably argue that would make the dress immodest.
I'm still wondering why when Orthodox bride shopped at the store there were several modest dresses while when Michelle showed up the store acted like they never sold dresses that covered a woman's chest and arms. I have hard time believing Orthodox bride was a one time deal. The store is in NYC! I'm sure Kleinfeld's regularly has brides come on in that need to meet certain religious standards and therefore can't wear the beloved stripper fairy gown! The only thing I can think of is TLC told Klienfeld's not to bring those dresses out for the sake DRAHMAH!
Speaking of stripper fairy gowns I caught a bit of older episode during the marathon. One bride was wearing a strapless gown that was a little sexy but not tasteless. I was floored when it was revealed Pnina Tornai dress! The top wasn't see through! One wouldn't need to be embarrassed about Grandma seeing them in it! The woman apparently makes much nicer dresses so I really do wonder why her stripper fairy gowns appear to be her most popular ones.

Did anyone see the episode that was on before Christmas, with the "plus-size" brides trying on dresses? One was not very heavy, so I use the quotes for "plus-size," but she'd gained about 20 pounds recently. She was there with her mother and cousin, and they were the nastiest, most vicious bitches I've seen in months. They kept talking about how fat the bride was and joking about how her fiance was going to leave her as soon as he got a look at the monstrous heifer she'd turned into. They were horrible, horrible women, and I was wishing many bad things upon them.

It's amazing the way some people act ON camera. Can you imagine how unpleasant they are in private? So did Sarah (the consultant) ever get married? That's a classic case of choosing the perfect dress. Her figure just looks average, but in that dress she was a goddess.

ITA. If I could have reached into the screen and slapped those two, I surely would have. Props to the bride for not reacting to it, but I bet she didn't hear the worst of the horrible things they were saying because she was trying on the gowns. I hope they both watched themselves and realized how nasty they were, and made the appropriate apologies, but I doubt it.

This is how you do tasteful but still pretty if you're busty and/or slightly bigger than, say, stick figure.

Thanks for the link, EvilMinion! I love this picture[/color], too. Radiant happiness. I am presuming that the bride was Orthodox Jewish. Brides, pay attention! If you play down the dress and the tittehs, everyone sees how beautiful and happy *you* are.
