My favorite newscaster died tonight. He was 67, it just seems so odd, I know he had lung cancer but he still looked so healthy and vibrant.

I know! He didn't look 67....He was my favorite newscaster as well. My memory of him goes back to my little kid days, watching him with my mom. Terrible. When I heard he had lung cancer, I was thinking that he'd be okay and he'd be back. Four months and it took him out...RIP, Peter. We'll miss you.

RIP Peter. One of the best newscasters of all time - right behind Walter Cronkite in my book.

Oh my God. I LOVE Peter Jennings. He's the only newscaster who can calm me down in times of crisis. And now he's gone. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I don't know how to react to this. He's been the guy who's been with me no matter what...I can't believe this. My grandfather is dying, and now I have to hear about this.

I just went online and saw this under Yahoo News and just had to do a double take. I can't believe he's gone either. It was a total surprise to me when it was revealed earlier this year that he had lung cancer and was going to undergo treatment. I definitely didn't expect him to pass away so soon. I have always liked Peter, and he could be pretty funny at times.
RIP Peter.

It's interesting you should say that because my wife and I watched him all day on 9/11 and for the next couple of days and he was fantastic. Calm and informative but with contained emotion. I always thought he was noticeably better than Rather or Brokaw. I'll miss him.

He was my favorite too, I was always hopeful he would at least come back to anchor one more time after his farewell on World News, but alas it will never happen. I think deep down we all knew he wasn't coming back.

I was so sure he would recover, and be back on the air before the end of the year. How very, very sad. He was my anchor. His coverage of September 11 was extraordinary, and as I sat in my home three blocks from a major terrorist target, I felt less scared because of him. RIP Peter; you will be sorely missed.

I'm shocked! I didn't know he was sick. R.I.P. Mr. Jennings.

Apparently when he announced he had lung cancer in April, he was Stage IV which is the last stage. His on-air announcement was played this morning on local Detroit radio - he sounded rough. I was surprised by this news today too. It is sad; he was one of the "good guys" of TV news. Condolences to his wife and children, who were with him when he passed.
