This was the most fascinating episode by far. I know she probably loved him but Susan's grandfather sounds like a creep, I mean getting a 12-year-old pregnant? That's just wrong. I'm wondering if Anita stayed away because the grandfather didn't want her around. I probably shouldn't comment on this, because I didn't see the episode, but if Grandma looked so much like gorgeous, voluptuous Susan, I wonder if Grandpa even knew how old she really was--she may have been a very mature-looking 13, and he may not have asked her age, assuming she was old enough to know what he was doing.

Well, her grandmother lied about her age and said she was 15 when she got married. However, she was actually 12 when she got pregnant and 13 when she got married to Susan's TWENTY-ONE year old grandfather. That is so creepy, because even if he thought she was 15, that is still too young for someone in their 20s to be with. *shudder*
And those photos and sketches of her looked COMPLETELY like Susan. And the ability to go back on her mother's line 400 years was awesome! One of my faves next to the Matthew Broderick episode.

Did anyone catch the last episode with Spike Lee? I still think Sarandon's was the best.

Did anyone catch the last episode with Spike Lee? I still think Sarandon's was the best. I watched it last night. It was actually the first episode I watched all the way through, due to scheduling, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but what I liked most about it was that Lee pointed out the sad irony of being a filmmaker and never having interviewed his grandmother about her past. I know this happens in many families, but still. I thought the clip of Lee dressed as Mars digging in the dirt was touching, if a tad theatrical.

Spike Lee's episode was the first I ever watched. It was quite interesting. It's too bad they couldn't find out what happened to his great-great-great grandfather (I think that was the number of greats) after he was taken away by the Union soldiers.

Didn't Kim Cattrall already do the British version of this show?

Didn't Kim Cattrall already do the British version of this show? Yes she did. If I remember correctly she discovered what happened to her maternal grandfather after he disappeared. But perhaps they're airing the same episode for the US market or she has some more exploring to do?

Or they're researching her mother's side?

I'm hoping they focus more on her US side, too. But damn if they're doing Gwyennie's tree! Blast!
I'm interested in Ashley Judd, Vanessa Williams and Tim McGraw.
Is this more of a tie-in for that Country Strong movie with McGraw & Paltrow appearing?
