Top Gun 2 trailer had me with the updated theme score I always loved the Top Gun soundtrack. Yep I be going to that. Cats tho, I only managed about five seconds before I ran away to Mr Mistoffelees original song. |

Those all look decent. Cats, on the other hand... linkGood Lord! Kill it with fire! Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Cats (the movie) in theory. I love theater, and musicals, and camp. But that whole thing has a creepy uncanny valley thing happening, plus Taylor Swift, and Rebel Wilson doing her tired fat schtick. And it just looks like a disjointed mess. I never saw the original Cats, but I have heard some songs from it. It was huge in the 80s, and is iconic. But I cannot for the life of me understand how what I just saw was a major studio production. Everyone looks like they're cosplaying Mike Meyer's Cat In the Hat. |

The only thing that impressed me about the Cats trailer was Jennifer Hudson singing Memories. The rest was a clusterf*ck.

The only thing I liked about the Hustle trailer is that J-Lo looks fab for a lady who will be 50 this year. And I need to go to the gym. |

Cats...just, why? WHY? Couldn’t they have just stuck with the furry bodysuits and heavy makeup? That would be far less horrifying. I was waffling on whether or not I was going to see it but that trailer put me firmly in the Hell No camp.

And I need to go to the gym. Judi Dench needs another vacation house. That's the only rationale I have for her being there. She's not even known as a singer. What. The. Fuck. Is. Happening. Indeed. I watched the trailer a second time, with my glasses on, just to make sure I wasn't just hazy from the heat and sleep deprivation. And nope. Even after a nap, a meal, and Lenscrafters, it's just as bad as the first time. I have no idea who the target audience is supposed to be for this. It is baffling. The down votes on YT almost double the up votes. Movie execs should be panicking. JHud did sound great though.  ETA: The comments on YT are brutal: |

Judi Dench needs another vacation house. That's the only rationale I have for her being there. I'm thinking of Michael Caine's famous line about his appearance in Jaws 4: "I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.” 2 new trailers today-CATS and IT. Guess which one scared me more LOL, nailed it. |
