Despite Scarlett's appearance, I just might have to see JoJo Rabbit . If the humor is anything like 'What We Do In The Shadows', I'll love it.

It seems like a retread of familiar tropes (I can smell the twist coming a mile away), but my curiosity is piqued. The Hunt. Slightly NSFW.

I haven't seen GLOW, but Betty Halpern was amazing in the first season of American Gods. I'll watch her in anything from now on.

I am so conflicted about the Little Women adaptation. I love this story so much, but the 1994 version with Winona Ryder and Christian Bale has a dear place in my heart. I'm just not sold on the Greta Gerwig version yet, but I will probably go see it with my daughter. Lil' Ladybug and I read the entire, unabridged version of Little Women together when she was in 6th grade. I’ll definitely see it, because I love the book in general, but I thought that trailer was...meh, for lack of a better word. Timothy is no Christian Bale. And nothing evokes more emotions from me like the 1994 version score does.

The 1994 version was pure magic. Laura Durn can't hold a candle to Susan Sarandon as Marmee. The cinematography in that film was done just like you'd expect from that era, a picture-perfect postcard. The actors were charming and believable and didn't feel forced in any way. I can't feel anything with Timothy playing Teddy. I've never really warmed up to him and I feel like this isn't a role that suits him.
But it's got Streep, dammit! I may or may not see it -- maybe on Netflix.

Especially since when I heard she was in it, I thought she was playing Marmee. So the fact that she is playing the crotchety old aunt, that’s brilliant. ETA- To avoid double posting. The trailer for Last Christmas is out. Starring a great cast- Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding and Emma Thompson and directed by Paul Feig. Seriously, we need more Henry Golding.

Lil' Ladybug and I read the entire, unabridged version of Little Women together when she was in 6th grade. I'm a little torn too, and I'm not sure how much I like the way they seem to be "modernizing" it a bit - though the book was always feminist in nature, it wasn't 2019 feminist. I think updating some things for a modern audience is't always bad, but don't make it anachronistic. I feel that way about Netflix's "Anne with an E" - again, not really a problem updating Anne of Green Gables for a modern audience, but sometimes that show takes it way too far and it just doesn't feel right. But, it looks great. Costumes, sets, art direction all look fab. You can see stills here. The cast is also great, though I have a hard time separating the actress who plays Beth from the character she played in Sharp Objects (two VERY different characters). I also agree that Timotheeeeeee doesn't really connect with me emotionally, but he does look the part to me (Laurie in my head is always kinda pretty with floppy hair). And the actress who plays young Amy has the perfect nose for it.If the reviews are decent, I will probably check it out.
