Anyone here seen Chak De India? SRK was mind-blowing in it. I thought Swades was his best film so far, but I was blown away by Chak De! No traces of SRK the superstar, he was every inch the hockey coach he plays in the film... I'm so glad someone posted this! Chak De is playing semi-locally and I think I will reallocate some of the rent money for gas and ticket money.

Oh I can't wait to see Chak De! I heard a great interview with SRK, where he said that he wanted to do this movie because it showed that Indian women had roles outside of the traditonal ones, and that was an important thing to showcase

You would not regret it! I can't get over the fact that SRK looked and acted so very different! Not just the fact that he looks fitter and hotter than ever, he managed to add such layers to his character. The most real character he has played, IMHO. I liked him in this better than in Swades...Chake De according to me is his best movie, Period.

Today I saw the teaser trailer of Aaja Nachle, Madhuri Dixit's new movie, and whoa! I hadn't realised just how much I liked her until that brief glimpse of her face made me feel all giddy. The Queen is back! She's still so gorgeous, and has a special kind of warmth and charm.

I saw Saawariya this weekend, only because Om Shanti Om was sold out! It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but boy did it drag. And it was depressing. However, Ranbir Kapoor was very good, I think he's going to be a star.

I'm missing Saawariya this evening (too much to do) but I saw Om Shanti Om on Saturday and really enjoyed it. I haven't seen any of the movies it might be based on. The first half is lighter than the second and has a really enjoyable retro feel of thirty years ago. The second half is darker, but still good. Its all pretty fast paced. And Shah Rukh is at his goofy best in parts. Abhishek B. has a small cameo in spite of his dad's feud with SRK. Supposedly Farah asked him as a favor.

I loved Om Shanti Om. I liked the retro feel too, and while I'd thought the songs were just average when listening to the soundtrack, the picturisations made me enjoy them a lot (Dhoom Tana was too cute). The movie was such pure entertainment. I can't remember the last time I saw scenes that amused me as much as OSO's superhero spoof or Filmfare awards (the Best Actor clips were hilarious!).
I'm not a fan of SRK, but to my surprise I ended up really liking him. He was even hot in his item number (half the time I was laughing at the OTT parody, half the time I was embarrassed that I found him sexy despite the OTTness). I don't think many fortysomething Hollywood stars would be able to show off a six-pack like that, or have enough sense of humour to risk being thought ridiculous for appearing in Dard-E-Disco. Deepika Padukone was much more charming and lively than the previews made me think she would be. I'd love to see her in romantic comedies.
Unfortunately the big cameo song felt a little incomplete to me because of the absence of Bachchans.

Yeah, I guess the feud is on again (still?). Apparently Amitabh appeared in OMO at the awards scene as a favor to Farah Khan ("Om who?"). I heard that at some real award ceremony all of the Bachchans walked out (Big B, Little B, Jaya and Ash).

The Bachchans walked out?? What is this feud with SRK about? I'm a bit clueless myself; I haven't found a good detailed explanation. But Stephen Colbert referred to the feud on his show. I love historical films, so I'm hoping Jodhaa Akbar will be good. Hrithik looks suitably regal in the trailer.
