I hope Chiwetel Eijofor wins Best Actor because I thought his performance was better than Matthew McConaughey's. However I'm really not charmed by the idea of a "slavery vs. AIDS" sequel to the "racism vs. homophobia" hullabaloo of 2005.

Having seen all the best picture nominees, if I were voting McQueen would get BD and 12 YAS would get BP. As it stands, I'm starting to get nervous. I'm preparing myself for the worst.

Best Picture and Director are still looking very murky at this point, until they announce the winner of the PGA and DGA Awards. The acting awards are much more clear now after the SAG results. I'm seeing McConaughey, Blanchett (finally!), Leto, and Nyong'o grabbing the Oscar gold. Jennifer Lawrence and Leo DiCaprio are possibilities at this point though.

I honestly hate that every year it's a dutiful, predictable march to the winners. I feel like the only uncertainty is BP. I think it will be Cuaron, McConaughey, Blanchett, Leto, and N'yongo. The only probable upset I see there is Lawrence - and yeah, that might hinge on whether AH or 12YAS is the BP.

If Lawrence hadn't won last year I would say she's a lock. As it is I think she's too young to win back to back. I wonder if Amy in lead actress or Chiwetel or Leo in lead actor might be one of the upsets.
Producers guild tied their equivalent of best pic. First ever tie. Gravity & 12 Years. So that doesn't rally clear up the best pic confusion.

I think the only thing the tie clears up is that it knocks American Hustle out of the running for Best Picture.

I think the only thing the tie clears up is that it knocks American Hustle out of the running for Best Picture. I sure hope that's the case. I enjoyed American Hustle, but I don't think it's Best Picture worthy, especially when compared to 12 Years a Slave.

I liked AH, but I also thought the other BP movies I have seen were better (Gravity and Dallas Buyers Club) or as good (The Wolf of Wall Street). I have not seen 12YAS, but I also don't doubt that it's better than AH because AH was really kind of mediocre. I don't get the love for it.

I've decided not to see American Hustle until it shows up on TV or something as I was burned with David O. Russell's last two films (Silver Linings and The Fighter). I thought both of them were mediocre and undeserving of all the awards love they received.

College Humor's honest Oscar movie posters are hilarious, especially the AH one.
