Well, I didn't too bad in my predictions. I guess I'm mean too because I'm sort of glad that Angelina Jolie was snubbed only because it was becoming so predictable that four of those five spots were being filled by the same people, and I'm very happy that Laura Linney got in instead when she had no precursor love at all. Plus, it may be a sign that says that she'll have to stop making crap and start making more movies like A Mighty Heart before they welcome her back again.
I was totally wrong on Reitman though. I just thought that the direction was being overlooked for Juno all over the place, so he would be ignored here too. I think it's great that he got in on his second major film, at least I believe it is, instead of his first one, because I think there's a little less pressure there. I know there are others, but I can't think of them right now only John Singleton's name came to mind. I think getting an Oscar nomination on his first time out really hurt him in the long run since he could never get the same success as Boyz in the Hood when maybe if he hadn't got that nomination, perhaps he would have been able to experiment more and not be so pressured to be nominated again. Or maybe his career would have turned out the same anyway.
