I think it will be Leo for Best Actor, Sly for Best supporting and George Miller for Best Director. No Carol for Best Picture though?

Again, the Academy body looks like the GOP base.
70% of members are: white, male, & over 55 (Think Jon Voight). With that makeup, how can you bring about diversity? I know the board is trying to make the group more inclusive, but that's going to take some time.... especially at the rate they're going. They need to blow up the system and start over. But of course they won't because there's too much money involved. And too many egos.
ETA:
My picks (usually wrong).
Spotlight George Miller Leo Brie Sylvester Rooney Spotlight for writing Revanant & The Martian duking it out for most technical awards
I looked over at goldderby.com, and Ridley was the odds on favorite to win best director. I can't believe he wasn't nominated....

I'm totally baffled by Brooklyn's inclusion. It was enjoyable, but it was kind of like a Thomas Kincaid painting of a movie. Completely safe and challengeless - sanitized image of pretty 1950s people. The audience I saw it with was entirely women taking their mothers. Even my mother, a senior citizen, commented that it was safe and sanitized.

No green screen, no special effects. Just a good movie. I wouldn't give it Best Picture but I do think it deserved its nomination. In my honest opinion, Spotlight is hands down the best picture. But it didn't get any awards love at the GG. If it really is down to The Martian or The Revenant, ugh. I would totes be okay with Mad Max winning and I hope that Miller wins Best Director! And EarnedIt is totes best song. They better not do what the HFPA did and give it to that awful Bond song, how was that even nominated.

They always try to do something hip every year so I think George Miller will win for directing.

Chris Rock called the Oscars the "White BET Awards" in a tweet today. He'll probably have a thing or two to say about the makeup of the nominees in his opening monologue.

I hope we can make it through this show without any political statements. Sorry but I just don't feel like watching that this year. I can form my own opinion.

Binky, I saw Brooklyn with my stepmother. It's just that kind of movie.

I saw The Revenant last night. I don't think Leo should be winning anything for this. I want him to continue being Leo Lucci.
