Somewhere there will be an upset. I'd almost even bet money on it, but I won't as I live on a budget. Where do you think it would be?

Whoever wins in Supporting won't be a real upset because there's just no frontrunner IMHO. For BA, Julie Christie is theoretically the winner because of all those other awards. But I think that either Cotillard or even Page can upset her.

I was thinking the upset could be Laura Linney, but that's probably too out there.
Maybe Hal Holbrook--I haven't seen that movie but supposedly his performance is fabulous, and he does have that first nomination, Hollywood veteran thing in his favour.

I've got my fingers crossed for Swinton. Christie is the frontrunner, but she doesn't feel as unbeatable as DDL or Mirren last year.

EW has their oscar forecasts and some of the seeming locks are closer in vote percentages than one would have thought. I don't have a link, but they were discussing it in the envelope forums. I think one of the "locks" is going to go to someone else.

I could see a minor upset in the Best Director category, with Schnabel gettting it instead of the Coens.
I wish Laura Linney could win Best Actress; she's incredible and has been so overlooked. I actually have a feeling Cotillard might win. I really want to see what she's going to wear...her Chanel at the Bafta's was one of the most astonishing dresses I've ever seen up close.

Damn, no swag, Diablo? Have one of your peeps pick it up for you. ;-) Don't let Lohan get it!
I'm hoping that this year's Oscars will be as crazy and unexpected as the Grammy's were. We need some variety!

The Oscars have their own youtube channel now, complete with film trailer-like promo for the ceremony. Great fun, there are lots of very cool clips

Oh yay! And they have the Barbara Stanwyck special Oscar presentation clip. That combined with William Holden’s impromptu tribute to her a few years earlier are among my favorite Oscar moments. So touching.
