I actually enjoyed this years ceremony, I still think it can be cut down to about 2 or 2.5 hours. Anywho, except for one category I felt that all the right people won the major categories, so I can't complain too much.

Blech. I thought the evening was strange, uneven and flat. But I also think '07 was a very disappointing year for film, so I guess I shouldn't have expected the Oscar ceremony for it to be any different.

Yeah, Diablo/Juno!
I'm actually pretty pleased with this year's results. John Stewart did well. I was afraid the 98 year old life time achievement award winner would be interrupted by the music. He's 98, leave him alone! Seriously, I'm glad they let him speak for as long as he wanted to.

Oh goodness yes, it seemed to me that they were cutting off the speeches very fast. And those awards that went to more than one person really got the shaft. I can see if people start to ramble, or rant or go on and on and on - the need to cut them off, but jeez let people enjoy their moment for goodness sakes. Do away with the stupid montages, the endless homages to years past, and the drawn out naming of the nominees, and you would have plenty of time to let the winners speak at least for a minute or two.
Although I am glad they let the young lady from Once come back out and give a speech, that was nice.
The Academy really needs to listen to the viewers and make some serious changes - hell all the awards show do.

I suck this year and didn't see most of the nominees yet, but I'm happy that two of my picks -- "Falling Slowly" for best song (sooo gorgeous) and, of course, diablo -- won. Woo hoo!

You know, my mom, who is a gloriously young at heart 75, has a negligee that looks exactly like Diablo Cody's dress. Really a brave fashion choice there.

Although I am glad they let the young lady from Once come back out and give a speech, that was nice. The Academy really needs to listen to the viewers and make some serious changes - hell all the awards show do. Yes, I understand the need to make it faster, and actually I was very happy that it was done before midnight this year. (I don't remember that ever happening; although, I'm sure it must have before.) I just wish when more than one person wins, they all get to say something instead of one person hogging the mic, and the other people getting cut off before being able to say something. Now if they designate one person to speak I understand, but that's not what was happening last night at all (except for the best documentary winner). I wonder if that creates any resentment afterwards. I admit that it probably would with me if the person I won took up all the speech time, and I couldn't even thank my family up there. They really should cut out the montages that are full of clips that we've seen every year at this show, and probably do away with the musical numbers. Even though they were all surprisingly okay this year, I could have done without any of the Enchanted numbers being done. It's not like I didn't like the songs themselves, but for the first number I didn't think Amy Adams had enough stage presence to just sing by herself. For the second one, it was probably the best staged song out of the three, but I could have done without it if it meant a little more time for the winners to speak. The third one was pretty good too except the guy's voice went horribly off note, imo, at least once when he was trying to reach for a big note. As for the winners, I'm pretty happy. Marion Cotillard was a nice surprise. She wasn't really a major upset, but I'm glad that there was a little shake-up at least. It was also good to see The Bourne Ultimatum get a lot of technical love since I didn't want it to be just No Country for Old Men sweeping because I usually hate it when one movie sweeps every award that it's up for because then the awards seem even more predictable. I feel bad for Roger Deakins, Jack Fisk, and Kevin O'Donnell though. I thought that this was finally their year.
