Deadline Hollywood Daily has some scoop on tomorrow's awards ceremony
Apparently Nicole Kidman refused to present because she needed the "right" hairdresser. What the hell does that mean? I think her hair looks like ass most of the time anyway.

Okay, that idea is completely dumb. I mean, they are trying to get the show down to three hours and they've done things like cut the musical performances down to 60 seconds, yet we've got to wait for a shitload of people to make it onto stage and wait as the camera lovingly pans past all of them every time one of these categories comes up instead of just one person coming out and getting down to it.
How is it that this show gets dumber all the time? I think they need to stop overthinking everything and just get the damn ceremony out of the way.

Deadline Hollywood Daily has some scoop on tomorrow's awards ceremony If this is true, then I'm never watching the AA again. What kind of crap is that? They won! Give them their due. I wasn't watching tonight because it's on at the same time as The Amazing Race and the Cleveland/Detroit basketball game. I'll depend on you guys and the Internet for my information.

Well....I don't think this would happen if the last year's winners were called Johnny Depp, Ellen Page, Cate Blanchett/Ruby Dee and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Who cares about Cotillard, Bardem, Day-Lewis and Swinton? My prediction for tonight Picture: Slumdog Millionaire Director: Gus van Sant, Milk Actress: Kate Winslet Actor: Sean Penn Supporting Actress: Amy Adams (come on. AMPAS loves Amy ) Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger Original Screenplay: In Bruges Adapted Screenplay: Slumdog Millionaire

That is stupid, especially if (God forbid) Penelope wins, and Javier was the presenter.
My picks:
Sup. Actor: Heath (we miss you) Sup. Actress: Viola Davis (in the "I couldn't have done what she did in this role" performance) Actor: Penn (but I'll be happy with Mickey, too) Actress: Kate Orig. Screenplay: Slumdog Millionaire Adapted Screenplay: Milk Director: Danny Boyle (though I prefer Fincher myself) Picture: Slumdog Millionaire (still haven't seen it; still don't really want to.)

Will there be an Oscar thread tonight? They've got one set up over in the "Television" section.

Your Screenplay picks are backwards. SM is up for Adapted Screenplay and Milk is up for Original Screenplay. I know, I know, it's nitpicking. I still can't figure out who will win for supporting actress and actress (I know Kate fan atics, she should win, but you never know). As for actor, I thought Sean Penn might win, but I truly feel Mickey Rourke will win. I don't understand the SM hate. I liked the movie and as I said before, it's the zeitgeist film and none of the other nominated movies fit the bill.

I'm one of those Kate fanatics and yes, I've predicted her for the win but seriously: she's Kate Winslet, five-time-loser. I can totally see Meryl (or in a total shocker, Melissa Leo) win this. Kate is only 33. She still has a few good performances in her. So do Melissa and Meryl, I'm sure, but I feel they might want to award Meryl whose last win was so long ago. Though if they give Marisa Tomei a second Oscar tonight (or Amy Adams her first) and still let Kate walk without an award....then I may never watch this thing again

I know he doesn't have a shot in hell but I'd love to see Frank Langella win. As much as I enjoyed their performances, I just find Rourke and Penn so distasteful as human beings that I can't really root for either of them. But really as long as Bradley doesn't win I'll be happy.
