I know it's a really ridiculously easy call to make, but Queen Meryl will surely get a nom for Julie & Julia.

I predict that the Death Montage will run far longer than usual for this year. Anyone care to guess whether MJ will be so honored? He did appear as the Scarecrow in The Wiz... I thought you had to be a member of the Academy or a previous nominee/winner to be included in the montage. Remember the stink when Brad Renfro was left out of it? That was the reason the Academy gave. MJ doesn't qualify.

Didn't "Ben" get a nomination for best song in a movie?

That's not it, because wasn't Aaliyah included in the Death Montage and I think it was Peggy Lee's family who was upset that she'd been left out the same year (which would have been 2002?). The Oscar people just had some lame excuse about not being able to include everyone.

Hilary Swank aiming for Oscar #3 for Amelia. Is Annette Bening in the run for anything? Cause that's the only way Hilary will win. And yeah, Meryl is so getting nominated again, for whatever movie.

She got great praise at TIFF for her performance in Mother and Child, but the film hasn't been picked up yet. I'm wondering if there's going to be a surprise in Supporting Actress (maybe Julianne Moore for A Single Man?) or if it's going to be all Mo'Nique.

I saw Up in the Air at the Toronto filmfest. Definitely award worthy. I do think George will get nominated although at some points it does seem like he is playing a version of himself - a childless bachelor determined not to be tied down who puts his work first - which I think might hurt him. I'm interested to see if either of the female actresses - Vera or Amanda - gets a nom as they were both great.

When I saw Mo'nique's performance back in January I was sure she'd get an Oscar. But after hearing that she refuses (so far) to do any promotion for Precious. I am not so sure. I don't know WTF is wrong with her. She gave the performance of a lifetime.
