ETA: As for this year's Oscars, I don't think Swank is getting nominated for Conviction. Apparently the studio is pushing Sam Rockwell for an acting nomination instead of her.

I think Mrs. Beatty's main competition this year is coming from Natalie Portman. I would say Julianne Moore would be competition, but apparently, in Hollywood terms, "it's Annette's year," which is too bad because JM has been nominated numerous times without an award as well.

The TV spots for Black Swan are entire "For your consideration" ads. Natalie "best actress of her generation"? Yeah right. But kudos to whoever is behind Black Swan's campaign, they actually managed to hold up Natalie's early buzz and I don't think there's any way she won't be at least nominated for every award possible. As for an actual Oscar win....I'd still say that Annette has a better shot but who knows.

I'm still mad that Italy decided not to submit "I Am Love" as their official selection. I still think that foreign film category needs a major overhaul. It's available now on Netflix Instant if you want to check out Swinton's performance -- I think she's a looooong shot at this point. The category is extremely crowded, the buzz from the film has died down and it's tone might be a little too much for some voters.

In the greatest rumor EVER, Deadline is reporting that Anne Hathwaway and James Franco have been asked to cohost the show.

I had no idea John Cameron Mitchell directed Rabbit Hole. Excellent.

Looks like a great mix of nominees. I think I'm going to have to watch Winter's Bone again. I really wanted to like it more. There were some great performances.

As expected, the Best Actress category is going to be a barnburner. I noticed they nominated six actresses instead of five this year.

It's a coin flip between Bening and Portman if you ask me.
