I'm thinking Andrew Garfield will get the nod, if not for The Social Network then for Never Let Me Go.

I really hope Noomi Rapace gets a nomination. If Marion Cotillard can, so can Noomi!

Which is probably why she hired Marion's publicity team to campaign for her. I doubt she'll receive it, though, since the Best Actress field is crazy crowded, as mentioned.
Based on reviews, Zach Galifanikis's semi-dramatic turn in "It's Kind of a Funny Story" is fantastic, so perhaps he could get a Supporting Actor nom out of it.

I've been wasting some time on the official Oscar YouTube channel. Many many great clips but boy, did this year's way of handing out the acting awards suck! I liked they way they did it in 2009 with former winners and the latest one saying a few words before announcing the winner. This year it was simply clumsy the way they had "friends" holding speeches and then last year's winner walked onto the stage to hand out the award. I hope they won't try to repeat this. Just go back to the usual style of showing a short clip of the nominees' best (overacted) scenes. It's still six weeks until the Globes noms will be announced . I'm kinda excited for this year (though I know I'll be annoyed by early February).

I would love to see Zach nominated. I have been watching him in 'Bored to Death' and he is great in that.

Natalie Portman has been getting a lot of buzz for the "Black Swan." Just judging from the trailer, I can understand the buzz. It's not your typical give-me-an-Oscar role (Hilary Swank, I'm looking at you) but it looks interesting, different, and something I would actually pay to see in the theaters instead of waiting for it on Netflix. The Hollywood Reporter did an one-hour round table with Portman, Swank, Annette Bening, Helena Bonham-Carter, Amy Adams, and Nicole Kidman which was pretty interesting to watch. My favorite moment is when Hilary Swank is talking about a role she was interested in and how she didn't get it and then Annette is like "who did? Amy... it was you wasn't it?" and then it turned out Amy was actually offered the part. Haha that was great.

From what I've heard, they moved Halle's movie to this year at the last minute in hopes of a nom. Which would be a better strategy if the Best Actress category wasn't already crazy crowded. But I'd always rather have too many films/actors in the mix rather than too few. Based on the buzz of 127 Hours and Boyle's recent win, I think Franco is a lock for an acting nom. I can't watch that actress roundtable on my phone but I read Vulture's highlights. I guess Amy had to turn down that part as well because she thought it would be too emotionally taxing to do while taking care of her newborn. The most crazy tidbit is that Helena Bonham Carter could've been in Breaking the Waves but she thought the script was too "pornographic." (which, thank god, I think she's not a great actress and would've sucked ass) -- And somehow Nicole still keeps in touch with Von Trier via email, despite him being "mean and vindictive." Most importantly, I am sad that they put Annette and Swank in the same room and it didn't end in bloodshed.

Hilary Swank talks way too much in this. And I'd HATE it if she'd get nominated again with Bening. It would be all about Swank vs Bening Round 3 and who knows if there aren't crazy AMPAS members who'd get a kick out of "three time Oscar winner Hilary Swank". Gah.
