Real Genius was on at 3:00am on a local station the other night. I TiVo'd that baby!

Better Off Dead gave me one of the best pieces of advice ever "Go that way really fast, if something gets in your way--turn."

So who's your yummiest 80s babe? I know its blasphemy, but Jake Ryan bores me and Lloyd Dobler comes dangerously close to stalkerville. I used to be an Andrew McCarthy girl, but now I know my heart will always belong to John Bender. DO I STUTTER?

I loved John Bender. The Breakfast Club is one of my favorite all time movies.
Jake Ryan was hot but he never went on to any other movies so it is easy to forget about him.
I also will forever adore Rob Lowe and I am happy that he was able to revive his career after the whole sex scandal thing.

I'm a shameless fan of Caddy Shack. "Do drugs, Danny?" "Every day." "Gooood."
Also A Fish Called Wanda. If that comes on t.v., and I'm in the middle of something, forget it -- I'm going to drop what I'm doing to watch it.
But here's an 80s movie confession: I've never seen Footloose.

I still regularly listen to my Footloose and Pretty in Pink soundtracks. Both of which are on cassette.
I have never seen Caddyshack, that is my 80's movie confession.

Yay! 80s movie thread with a "16 Candles" quote!
So many of these gems have actually popped up on YouTube, which is wonderful.
I was watching "Pretty in Pink" last night and I was completely struck at how so many teenagers (or "Teenagers" as the case may be) in movies have changed. Molly Ringwald actually looks like a teenager in PiP because she actually was one and she hadn't dieted down to nothing. She still had a little baby fat in her face. The "teens" today all look like they are at least in their mid-20s.
As for hottest 80s dude? I was always a Jake Ryan fan, but yeah, he did fall off the face of the earth (to do carpentry, I think), so he's easy to forget. If I had to go by who I had a crush on in the 80s, it would have to be John Cusack - not for "Say Anything" (because yeah - dude with no plans for his future other than to follow his girlfriend around isn't that appealing) but for movies like "Better Off Dead" and "One Crazy Summer" - you know, the ones he pretends never happened now.
But speaking of the "Where are they now?" thing, I'm always fascinated to see where these people land if they don't stick to acting. Jake Ryan is a carpenter. I think one of the nerdy guys (not Anthony Michael Hall) from "Weird Science" is now actually a professor of some sort. I think everyone from "Just One of the Guys" fell off the face of the earth except Sherilyn Fenn who went on to "Twin Peaks" and some bit parts, and the weird guy who was always carrying around lizards in that movie had a lot of bit parts later on, most notably the bellhop/serial killer in that episode of the X-Files "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose."
But what happened to others? What happened to the nerdy guy who played Mitch in "Real Genius"? Did the entire cast of "Just One of the Guys" die in a bus accident together? What did William Zabka do with himself after he stopped playing a butthole in 70% of the movies that came out in the 80s?

St. Elmo's Fire is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and yet I always watch it on cable. Help.
