If you think Breaking the Waves is disturbing, Erinnyes, then don't - repeat don't watch Dancer In the Dark. It's not supposed to be realistic, but still... Hmmm - do we think Mr Von Triers has a masochistic attitude towards women?

I think a lot of American History X is disturbing, Moldy, but most especially that scene.
It's one of my favorite movies, but due to it's disturbingness, I can only watch it every once in a while.
I hope this doesn't get taken out of context or anything, but I think the very most disturbing thing about the movie is the way Ed Norton's character seems to make some good sense there for a while. You're thinking, "Yes, that's rational. I can kind of see where he's coming from there." and then? Not so much.

Smilla, the part that weirds me out is her masturbating herself in the car. And, that's not Downey, that's Tom Sizemore. ETA: ACK! Sorry Smilla, I'm hallucinating and you are right! Guess it's time for me to see that ultra-disturbing movie again...

Unfortunately I do. ::shudders::
Unfortunately, I've also seen The Exorcist. So many traumatizing moments in that one - the 'Help Me' scar thing, the crucifix masterbation, the projectile vomit, the weird crawling thing... need I go on?
Another movie that disturbs me out is an old Disney live action called Watcher in the Woods where this girl gets trapped in another dimension. Sure, the girl ends up getting out about thirty years later, but the world kept changing and the people she knew kept on aging while she stayed the same. TEXT

When What's Love Got To Do With It? came out in the theaters, I went into a full blown anxiety attack when Ike (Laurence Fishbourne) went after Tina Turner (Angela Basset) in the recording studio. I staggered out of the movie complex into the mall and some stranger wanted to call the paramedics for me because I looked so bad.

The Piano Teacher. I swear, Isabelle Huppert likes to make fucked up films.
From Erika almost physically humping her mother in bed to the coldest sex scene known to man, this film had disturbing visuals. She even mutilated her genitals with razor blades in her bathroom before she went to work. Her mother knew of this and just told her to clean herself up before anyone takes notice of the blood on her legs. WTF? It was a very demented film and I shocked to say that I kind of liked it.

Could someone go into detail about the Latin scene in Event Horizon?

I have never seen this movie, but it is quite notorious-I Spit on Your Grave. It was made in the 70s and tells the tale of a novelist going to some Deliverance-type backwoods town to write. Instead, she is repeatedly raped by 3 men and left for dead. She exacts her revenge by killng and maiming her rapists.

In the movie Volcano there's a scene that will haunt me for life. Seriously, don't read this spoiler if you're sensitive to pain scenes:
There's boiling hot lava spilling through a tunnel but this brave guy risks going back through it to save his buddy. He gets caught standing in the lava and the lava basically slowly consumes him, with him screaming the whole while. It goes on forever, or so it seemed to me.
Really, if you watch that movie, and can come up with a way to cover your eyes and block your ears at the same time, do it at that part. I actually felt angry afterwards because I thought it was unnecessarily gruesome.

There's that scene in Reanimator where a severed head goes down on a woman.
And there is the film Humanoids from the Deep where two women are raped by monsters.
Oh and there is movie called Hannah Calder, where Raquel Welch is raped by 3 men, including Ernest Borgnine.
