Disturbing Movie Moments

The scene in The Ring where Samara crawls out of the tv and attacks the guy is terrifying. It gave me nightmares for a week.

Saw Sin City last week....and damn. It's a great movie and everyone in here needs to see it twice (for real!) but be warned: This movie is one big pile of disturbing.

Hmmm...where to start? How about the psycho who mounts the heads of hookers he killed AND ATE on his wall? Did I mention that the psycho was played by Elijah Wood?? Frodo??!!! And oh, yeah,psycho was EATEN ALIVE by a dog and he had a smile on his face the whole time!!


Add an execution by electric chair, a couple of swirlies and, oh yeah, someone's balls being ripped from his body, and you've got quite the recipe for wholesome family fun. I loved every second.

I found the scene in Casino where Joe Pesci and his brother are beaten to near death by a bunch of guys weilding bats and then thrown into a pit and buried alive very graphic and very hard to watch.

Sleepers as a whole was awful, but the flashbacks were nearly impossible to watch. It's something I never want to see again.

I've also been unable to watch Ransom since I had children.

I'll spoil it for you.
The movie was about four guys that had been sexually victimized in a Juvenile Detention Center by the guards there when they were kids. Anyway, there's one flashback that is very disturbing. They make one of the kids who is Catholic, hold his rosary and say the prayers out loud while one of the guards is raping him. He's raping him, and at the same time the other guards are taunting him and ordering him to say the prayers louder, because he doesn't say them as loud after the actual penetration, thrusting, etc. There is one other one, but it doesn't show much. Just one of the kids with his face wet with tears.

Not quite as disturbing as some of the stuff here, but bad enough. I was watching Space Cowboys last night on TBS. Of course they're bleeping the bad words. Then they get to the part where all the old guys get their physicals. They're all standing there naked and they showed it!! Not frontal just butt crack. ACK. I could have gone the rest of my life without seeing Donald Sutherlands old man ass. [/shudder]

I watched a Japanese movie called Ichi the killer recently. That is a sick, disturbing movie.

Is that from the infamous Miike? His stuff scares me simply by hearing about it. On the Asian cinema tip, Oldboy is currently in theatres. A lot of the violence is suggested but, my gawd, I'll never look at a hammer the same way again.

In one awesome unbroken tracking shot, our hero fights about 30+ thugs using only his fist and a hammer. Now for the more graphic, spoiler-y stuff:

Aforementioned hammer is used for amateur dental surgery, namely teeth removal, not once but TWICE! And that's before the double incest and a man cutting out his own tongue..

The worst part is something weirder: eating a live octopus. Head, tentacles and all. Ewww and yet I'm fascinated how they got the effect. It's an intense, entertaining film, kinda style-over-substance but gets darker and deeper as it goes along. I still think they botched the big reveal, but can't quite shake the movie from my head the last few days.
