What Dreams May Come, when Robin Williams is first in heaven and sees his dog. No matter how many times I have seen that it never fails to me me cry. Probably because I am hoping that when I die the first things I see I want to be all my pets. I clearly won't ever be able to see this movie!

Big Fish was another unexpected crying jag too. The first time I saw it in the theater, I was on a date and was mortified at my reaction. The next time, I was on a plane and should have known better, but I cried even harder! Oh, me too! I remember being really astonished at how much I cried during that movie - not "got a little teary," but honest-to-God cried.

I tried so hard to hold it in during Big Fish, but by the time the Dad asks the son to finish the story, I was a complete and total mess. It was so embarrassing, but not as embarrassing as the time I cried when Trinity bites it in the Matrix. In the theatre, once again.

Oh, man, I BAWLED during Big Fish. I was so embarrassed to leave the theater because I was so snotty and puffy from crying. It started almost at the very beginning, when Albert Finney's character was taking a drink from his nutrient-supplement drink, and didn't stop until the very end. Maybe it sounds stupid, but the way he acted in that scene reminded me so much of my grandfather when he was sick with cancer. That was one of those movies that was really good, but that I could never watch again.

Me too. I had NO warning that it was going to end like that. I was using my scarf to wipe my face. I frickin fracking freaking hate crying, especially in front of others, and I was at the theater with a random acquaintance I barely knew. And yeah, I can't really watch it again, either.

Big Fish is absolutely one of my favorite movies, and I own it and watch it fairly frequently, but I still cry Every. Single. Time. Hell, I teared up just reading the posts before this. I mean, I know it's mostly because it hits close to home for me (my dad died of cancer when I was 13), but still... every time. I'll still watch it though, it's a beautifully told story and every time I see it I love it more.
ETA ditto on Children of Men. I just saw it for the second time and still cried during several parts, especially the one mentioned.

What Dreams May Come, when Robin Williams is first in heaven and sees his dog. Oh dear god. That one got me good. Now, I am not usually a cryer, but In addition to What Dreams May Come, I sobbed uncontrollably during Powder. Especially the deer scene. I don't know if I was feeling particularly sensitive or PMS-ish, but I cried so hard I was exhausted after that movie.

Big Fish was EVIL in this way, because who'd think going into a Tim Burton movie that it was going to be such a weeper? Totally blindsided me. (I cried a little when Trinity died too. It was sad!! Although then she kept dying and dying for a really long time and it got a little funny.)

Just last night I was watching Volver and, well I know that the Oscar's category for Best Actress is really competitive this year, but damn.... I would give Penelope Cruz an Oscar for that song she sings in the middle of the movie. And she's an actress, not a singer!
I don't like musicals, I don't like people singing in movies AT ALL, actually I hate it, but Penelope had me crying from beginning to end, it's just one of the most beautiful scenes I've ever seen. Her face in that scene just kills me.

Well, my parents got me the special edition DVD of the Pride and Prejudice miniseries, so I've been watching it about once a week since Christmas. I don't expect to get teary-eyed at it any more, but the other night I watched it all the way through and got kind of misty at the end. Not just the wedding, or the "my dearest, loveliest Elizabeth," but when Mr. Bingley finally proposes and Jane says, "He loves me, Lizzy . . . he loves me!"
Jane and Mr. Bingley are secretly my favorite couple.
