I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but the first five minutes of Star Trek make me sob like a little girl. Damn you J.J. Abrams! It wasn't just you--it was maudlin as all hell, but I still had to grit my teeth to get through it without crying and even then, the eyeball forecast called for a salty mist. And then again when that guy whose name I've forgotten told Kirk that his father saved eleventy hundred lives and he was a captain for only 12 minutes. In other news, I finally saw Saving Private Ryan last night. Cried, mostly at the pain of cowardice, and then of course in the cemetery. I was especially touched by the realism of old man Middle America clothing.

I know it's a bit raw for me because I just watched it (for probably the 20th time), but the scene in The Royal Tenenbaums between Margot and Richie in his little pup tent (after Richie tries to kill himself) really gets to me. *sniff*
Man, I really love that wacky movie.

That opening scene is crucial to making the rest of the movie not seem ludicrous. You have to believe that this whole star trekking thing is a serious matter of life and death and JJ Abrams did a great job of it. When they're rushing everyone into the shuttle pods? And the music? "What will we name him?" Gahhh. Tears.

We just watched Toy Story 3 again. The entire last half-hour of that movie reduces me to a blubbering mess.

We just watched Toy Story 3 again. The entire last half-hour of that movie reduces me to a blubbering mess. As the parent of a 3 year old, the shot of Andy's mom standing in his bedroom destryed me. Sometimes I hate being a sensitive-new-age-guy!

Still haven't seen TS3. Mr. d took the older kids to see it and came home a mess--he couldn't even tell me about it, except to say, "Bring Kleenex. A LOT of Kleenex." My best friend, who cries at stop signs, sent her only child away to college last fall and I expressly forbid her to see it for fear of being removed from the theater in hysterics.

Oh Lord yes. My older daughter is graduating from high school next year, and when Andy's mom said "Oh. Oh, Andy" while looking at his empty room, I lost it.

I had tears in my within the first 3 seconds of the latest Harry Potter movie, when I saw Hermione look forlorn in her room. I knew what was coming and I just felt so bad.

I discovered that Brokeback Mountain is streaming on Netflix, and I don't know why I do that to myself. I cry when Alma discovers what her husband is doing on his "fishing trips." I cry every time Jack or Ennis break each other's heart. I cry because they can't be together. Then it's Niagra Falls from the moment Ennis gets the postcard stamped "deceased"and I'm a blubbering mess by "Jack, I swear..."

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch that since Heath Ledger died. I don't think I ever will.
