It probably sounds a little bit far fetched but I just love the non-verbal attraction of Kati Outinen and Kari Väänänen in Aki Kaurismäki's Drifting Clouds. Kati Outinen has that beautiful melancholy look which was also used to great effect in The Man Without a Past. Play some finnish Tango and love is in the air

No, you're not the only one. I only watch that movie alone, and I'll never tell anyone how much I love it.
Yeah, it's cheesy and silly at times, and I don't even like Christian Slater that much, but damn! It's so romantic and filled with tension and *sigh*.
I have to mention Bridges of Madison County. It's both romantic and erotic and sad and dramatic. I've always been a big fan of Meryl Streep, and she gave an outstanding performance in this movie. The most romantic moment is when he's sitting by the table and she's standing behind him and talking to a friend on the phone. She starts to remove somthing from the collar of his shirt and then just lets her hand lie there and he turns his head towards her and oh my god.

Even though it isn't my favorite, I have to give Bridges of Madison County credit because I liked the movie and I absolutely hated the book. And I mean threw-it-across-the-room-when-I-finished-it-and-hated-myself-for-wasting-the-forty-minutes-it-took-to-read-it hated it. I've only done that with one other book, The Horse Whisperer, and I haven't been able to bring myself to watch that movie, so Clint and Meryl did a pretty good job in order to convince me to sit through the whole thing.

Kafka, so much word on La Femme Nikita. I love that movie particularly the last scene when both men are sitting face to face, knowing far too well what the other felt for her and how much they'd both miss her. That tugged at my heart as well. So did the dinner with her BF in her new apartment when they had the raviolis; she was totally clueless about everything "normal" but was so excited just to be living, young, and like everyone else. I actually could relate to that in a weird way but then, I've had a pretty screwed up life. The Nina Simone music from that film was pretty wonderful too.

I don't think the film itself was romantic but I really thought it was romantic when Jack Nicholson says to Diane Keaton in Reds:
If you were mine, I wouldn't share you with anybody or anything. It'd be just you and me.

stargirl, 'You have bewitched me body and soul and I love...love you'. I fell a little in love with Mr. Darcy there, I have to shamelessly admit. Yeah, he had to work to work so hard to get that out that it was endearing. What about Love Actually? Some of the storylines I liked better than others, but how romantic was it when Hugh Grant (as Prime Minister) started knocking on doors of an entire neighborhood to track down the girl he loved? Plus, the scene of Colin Firth's proposal, spoken in halting, broken Spanish was very romantic.

As to movies in their entirety, I nominate Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. I've never liked Richard Curtis-esque romcoms and these two movies by Richard Linklater are pitch-perfect imo. I also thought Secretary was one of the most romantic movies in years.
Individual scenes?
The English Patient Kristin Scott Thomas's character and Ralph Fiennes' character dancing, just looking at each other - great acting - it was all over their faces how the characters felt about one another. That scene is so intense.
Strange Days The final scene, the kiss. Awesome.
Crocodile Dundee The final scene in the subway. "She loves you! She loves you!"
The End of Violence (Wim Wenders) - When the cop leaves the actress's house and casually steps back into the room briefly before leaving: "Oh and by the way. I love you."
::chokes up::

And funny as hell, too! I love that scene, it's so sweet.
Speaking of Love, Actually, I turn to complete and utter mush at the scene with Keira Knightley and the guy with the signs. I love Sign Guy! He's just too adorable and all in love with Keira. Swoon.
And I'll also admit to my love to Bed of Roses. It should be terrible, but it just...isn't.
I really agree with Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. I could watch those movies over and over and swoon every time. I'm always amazed that Sunset is one of the most romantic movies I've ever seen, yet there's absolutely no physical romance whatsoever. Any movie that can do that must be pretty freakin' romantic.

I am liking this thread a lot.
I love Love Actually as well but then I'm a sucker for Hugh Grant. I'm captivated by his charming persona from Impromtu, to 4 weddings and a funeral, About a boy, etc. I just love him. But my favorite scene is the same as MaddieMoo's, the guy who falls for his best friend's girlfriend showing up at her door for Christmas and then she kisses him. *sighs*
I liked Sunrise a lot better than Sunset, maybe because I had such a huge crush on Ethan Hawke when he was one the most beautiful people in Hollywood. 10 years forwards he looked 20 years older, it was just sad. In the first movie, they were 2 teenagers who fell in love for less than 24 hours, the storyline was beautiful and too endearing. 10 years later they were 2 sad people who were struggling to come to terms with their failures and didn't connect as much. I thought the ending was odd also.
I want to add another twisted, passionate love story and one of my favorite movies Dangerous Liasons. The evil, seductive brutal John Malcovich has rarely been so hot and Michelle Pfeiffer is plain lovely.

Plush, I think we have the same taste in movies. First, La Femme Nikita and now Dangerous Liasons. I loved that film for years and years. I used to be able to quote big parts of it too. I can't decide who is better, Malkovich or Glenn Close. You have Malkovitch doodling on Uma's ass and drawling out, "It's beyond my control", and then you have Glenn Close being just.... mindbogglingly conniving.... but you almost root for her. Almost. I admit to actually yelping out loud with pleasure when she was humiliated at the end, but damn, what an actress to make you so torn and so drawn into things
About a Boy is a guilty pleasure too. Much more so than "Love Actually," although I really enjoyed the scenes mentioned thus far in the thread.
I didn't like either the Sunrise/Sunset movies.
Confession and Unpopular opinion all in one: I don't like Casablanca. I know it's supposed to be THE romantic movie, but it just leaves me rather cold.
