I didn't want to start a new thread just for it, and I'm actually shocked that it doesn't already have its own thread--anyhoo...Shawshank Redemption is on. And I of course have to watch it each and every time it comes on. I have seen this movie so many times, I can recite probably 80% of the movie from memory. ANYWAY, after the first dozen times I saw it, I stopped looking at the screen as it played in the background, and busied myself doing other stuff. Tonight I actually sat and watched the movie for the first time in years. It's of course beautifully shot, and funny, and heartbreaking. But I don't know if I had forgotten, or just never noticed, but near the end, there's a scene the warden. The jig is up and the cops are closing in. He opens the safe and finds the bible that Andy left in there. He inscribed a note on the inside cover to the warden saying, "You were right. Salvation truly lies within." He opens the bible and there an indentation in the shape of the rock hammer that Andy used to dig his way out. What I discovered tonight? The page starts at Exodus! My eyes nearly popped out of my head. If I had been drinking, I'd have done a spit-take. I cannot stop laughing. Shawshank Redemption is the gift that keeps on giving.
