I wonder how the fan who wrote this unhinged letter is doing with this news? "As a human being, I fully believe you deserve your privacy . . . EXCEPT WHEN YOU IGNORE ME AND MY WISHES AND YOU DATE ANOTHER GIRL WHEN WE ARE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER CHRIS HOW COULD YOU BETRAY ME?!"

" Seriously, though, that is scary crazy!

I'm a huge fan of Chris Evans; somehow, I never saw him when I lived in Massachusetts! The age gap is there, but she seems like a great match for him. Congrats to the couple!

Social media is normally obsessed with any age gap no matter how minor, but the unhinged reaction of Chris's fans to the wedding has distracted social media from the issue and made Chris a sympathetic figure. So maybe Chris should thank the lunatics for their support.
I'm much more tolerant of age gaps now just because I'm so annoyed by people using it to let out all of their judgey, righteous, finger-wagging impulses. I read an opinion piece in The Guardian and it's true - it's no longer socially acceptable to dislike gay couples or interracial couples, so the only thing left is age gap couples.
That said, I saw a picture of his bride and she seriously looks 12.

I was in Boston when he was apparently walking around and spotted with his new wife and RDJ in tow. I'm bummed I missed him! I'm NEVER in Boston and this was a random trip. Congrats to them...I just don't know how well these May/December romances will actually pan out.

Like Ginger, for me SM has pearl clutched so much at even things like a 7 year age difference between people in their late 30s to early 40s that I no longer give a shit provided that there was no obvious grooming involved, it wasn't a student /teacher relationship type thing with an open power imbalance where one person felt like they *couldn't* say no or an outright Harvey Weinstein type situation and the younger person has at least had the chance to have some previous life experience. I do give things like the Al Pacino and Taylor-Johnson situations side eye for different reasons, even though the latter have been together for years now.
That said, I think a lot of relationships where there's a 15-20 plus year gap especially with a person in their 20s to a person in their 40s or more is that no matter how much they love each other, they do often end up in completely different places in their lives and careers. I was reading an article about someone non famous who married a guy who was in his mid 40s when she was in her late 20s and despite being a grown ass adult who had had other relationships and already changed careers when they met, eventually the practicalities of being with someone who was planning his retirement whilst she felt she was just getting started became too much. Personally I can't fathom being in a longterm relationship where the age gap is older than the younger person but again as long as it's not a 21 year old with a 70 year old situation, eh, not my life.
Also that said, that whilst I think they're cute together and wish them luck (never cared about Evans one way or the other) it kind of seems that he may have seen most his cohort and Avengers costars married with kids - or at least divorced with kids- and started to feel pressure that he'd never settled down at 42. That said, I know people that it's worked out for. And this is Hollywood where being together 10 years, especially as a first marriage is a major achievement and it's basically taught to expect that most relationships are transitory and transactional.
I'm crap at predicting all but the most obvious divorces/trainwrecks though.
