Went to see this one today. I was impressed despite knowing going in that it was supposed to be really good. It is not going to save world peace (too late) but it excels at what it is supposed to be which is a funny great movie for the Summer. I thought Carell did a great job and looking at the weekend grosses on this ($60M though Sunday) I hope he signed on for some back end. I didn't recognize a lot of the voices but was surprised to find out that Julie Andrews was in this one. I will have to start going to see more grown up movies or coming in later as the previews before this one were so truly awful I gagged. (Nanny CmPhee 2, Cats and dogs 2, Tangled)

I thought it was great, I went in not expecting it to be very good (it's been getting lukewarm reviews in my neck of the woods) so I was pleasantly surprised. I kinda wish I had an iPhone so I could've gotten that app that would've translated the minions at the end.

So which one is better? Toy Story 3 or Despicable Me? I heard one review referring to Despicable Me as 'the bizarro-world version of Toy Story.'

They're both good in their own ways, but based on plot alone Toy Story 3 is miles better. DM has way too many clichés to be a great movie. I will say though, that the 3D worked much better for DM than TS3.

they are different movies. Toy story is heavier with the feelings and Despicable Me is a really funny more light-hearted movie. Go see them both.

What is it about the minions that make me giggle every time I see them? I was napping in my recliner Saturday (what?? I hadn't slept in 24 hours) and a commercial with them came on. In my sleep, I heard a minion laugh, which caused me to wake myself up giggling. Not only am I old, but getting senile as well.

We're going to see this tomorrow morning--it'll be divaspawn3's first movie theater experience and we're going to a sensory-friendly screening. The other kids and Mr. d, who've never shown much interest in the sensory-friendly shows, are planning to come with us because the movie looks so good.

BUMPing for Minions opening Friday. It looks super adorable, and I might have to borrow the cousins' kids to see it. I did think I read some middling reviews but I don't remember where I saw those.
And well, MINIONS!!!! "They're so FLUFFY!!!!!!!!!!"
