She forgets she was a reality show contestant. She gives off that impression whenever the ladies on the show talk about other reality show contestants.

Well, she also got lucky and hit at the right time. There's obviously a market for right-wing conservatives or there would be no FOX News or Palin. She fits right in with that ilk - shrill, uninformed, and hateful. But they love the Lord!

The older guy she was friendly with on Survivor was Rodger. He was a farmer from Kentucky and I think he went to her wedding, but I haven't heard her mention him in a while. He seemed like a nice guy. Before Survivor, she was designing tennis shoes for Nike or New Balance, IIRC.

Jeneane Garofolo hit the nail on the head during her appearance on Rosie O'Donnell's radio show this year that I found on youtube. She said that Elizabeth seems incapable of empathy. If she has not experienced something, whether it be disadvantage or challenges, she finds it difficult to empathize with others. I notice this all the time on the View. For a so-called Christian, she certainly cares very little about the plight of others who are more unfortunate than she is.

When you realize life is random and that ANYTHING can happen to you at ANY TIME, you do have compassion for others. However this woman probably thinks that if they would "just work hard" they'd be in the same position she's in. What a hateful jerk! Had it not been for survivor she would have been Tiger Woods' number 10101901898181 jump off.

Bingo! Janeane hit the nail on the head indeed! An example of this is when the ladies were discussing health care and Joy was arguing for universal coverage. Elisabeth, of course, was arguing against it suggesting people who don't have coverage are just lazy. Joy asked, "Well, what about kids? Would you deny them health coverage?" Elisabeth's response was, "Why can't their parents just cover them?!" Elisabeth just didn't get it. She's never had to worry about health coverage because her parents could afford it and she's now in the position where she can afford it as well. As a result, she can't grasp the concept that there are many hard working people who simply do not make enough money to buy decent health insurance.
Of course, it doesn't help that Elisabeth is dumber than a box of hair. This is the woman that thought getting stitched up after delivering Grace made her a virgin again.

I think it's an absolute lack of empathy, and also lack of imagination. I think most of us can imagine how horrible it would be to be in someone else's shoes who is going through hardship, but she is incapable.

She only has empathy for the unborn (she's a mother), breast cancer survivors (her mom had it), and girl's sports (she was a jock)! She seemed to only warm up to gay rights once it became the thing for conservatives to do. After Obama was elected, they all started pretending they were Libertarians. She's been yacking about no government in our lives for months now.

She's like GWB. I remember when he as in a town hall setting and he was talking to a middle-aged woman and he asked her what she did for a living. The woman told him she worked at three jobs. GWB gets a grin on his face and says "Three jobs? Isn't that wonderful? You are a typical example of the hard-working American." Like, the idiot didn't get it. She was working at three jobs because the poor woman couldn't find one job that would pay her well enough because, at the time, the federal minimum wage hadn't been raised in over ten fucking years. So the woman was working herself to exhaustion trying to cover her expenses. And he's grinning like a banshee because he doesn't have a clue what it's like to actually have to work at something.
