President Snow is going to have to be a bad ass straight up asshole. Lenny as a choice surprised me! I didn't see him in Precious, but can he bring the amusement? Guess we'll wait and see. (He's so, so pretty, though. Still doesn't negate the fact that they picked two gross dudes for Gale and Peeta.

Aw, but Josh is adorable!
However, why would anyone cast Liam in anything?

The person I imagine as President Snow is Vladimir Putin, but I doubt he will take a movie role. Jason Isaacs would be perfect if he can do an American accent. Gary Oldman would be good too. Kiefer Sutherland?

Jason Isaacs did a great Rhode Island accent in "Brotherhood". He would be fantastic. I actually think Chris Noth would be really good in that he can play super charming but also pull off cold bastard.

Kiefer Sutherland? I just read on ONTD that Donald Sutherland has been cast as President Snow. I think he will do a really good job.

I'm sure he could play this role in his sleep but I don't really like that choice. I can't remember how they described him in the books but I always pictured President Snow as somewhat good looking and a little younger. Middle aged but not geriatric. I guess they are really counting this on being a hit because they are stretching out the trilogy into four movies. It does not say where the split would be. I would assume somewhere in the third book. They better hope the first movie doesn't bomb.

I just finished the series about 15 minutes ago (thanks Bitca!). WOW. I knew that a lot of people did not like Mockingjay but I did. It was bleak and depressing, but I really dug that the safe haven of District 13 was not all that different than the Capitol. I also was convinced that Peeta was going to die, so I was very happy that they ended up together. Very sad about Finnick but to be honest, I was surprised that anyone lived.
To be honest, after the crapfest that was Breaking Dawn, I don't think any series will let me down as much with their final book again. Does Collins have any plans to write any sequels/prequels?

This is obviously just the standard now, anything to wring more money out of the public and they didn't even try to come up with some "It's for the good of the story" bollocks excuse that Harry Potter did. If Peter Jackson managed to keep the 3 Lord of the Rings books as 3 films, then these people can do the same with the Hunger Games. If LOTR was being made today, I bet some bright spark would come up with the idea of making the trilogy 6 films.

I still cannot believe that my eleven year old neighbor recommended this to me. This was the goriest series that I have read in a long time. I wonder why she wrote it for the YA audience and not adult?

Well, Jackson's making two movies out of The Hobbit, so I guess he's on that bandwagon.
BoroKat, my stepdaughter recommended the series to me (she's now 13). If the movies are true to the books, they'll be R-rated. Maybe she (and/or her publishers) went for the YA audience because of the extreme youth of the protagonists. Plus, it seems like a lot of YA fiction these days is very bleak indeed.
