So, would Catfish[/color] fit here?

For what it's worth, I thought Catfish was pretty weak. As long as you know going in that it's a straight drama, and not "an emotional roller-coaster ride", you'll be OK.

I love all of the Christopher Guest ones. For Your Consideration was a bit different than the other three, yet was hilarious.
Two other great ones are American Dreamz, a take-off of American Idol, and On Edge, a take-off on competitive figure skating.

TTMR & I are watching Best in Show right now. Lord, how I love this movie. "We have so much in common. We both love soup. The outdoors. Snow Peas. Talking. Not Talking. We could not talk or talk forever and still find things to not talk about."

One of my favorite Jennifer Coolidge lines is from A Mighty Wind, when she says something like, "It's a good thing they had the little trains to look at! Else, how would they have figured out how to make the big ones?"
ETA, y'all who are fans of Guest's mockumentaries probably know this, and it's what I love about them and makes them even better--he writes an outline, but for the most part, it's all improv.

I'm sort of curious about all the people who are saying "you won't believe the twist" becuase when I first read the summary I knew what it was, and wiki'd it, and of course I was right.

And God Spoke. Absolutely fucking hilarious "documentary" about two overblown, egomaniacal writer-directors making a movie from the Bible. Unabridged. Trust me, you don't have to be a Hollywood insider to find this film pee-in-your pants funny. I'll only say this: Lou Ferrigno and Andy Dick as Cain and Abel. Soupy Sales as God. Go, get it, now.

This Is Spinal Tap owns this thread. Right before I saw this thread, I just happened to be talking about Lick My Love Pump and my crush on Nigel Tufnel.

For what it's worth, I thought Catfish was pretty weak. As long as you know going in that it's a straight drama, and not "an emotional roller-coaster ride", you'll be OK. I'm sort of curious about all the people who are saying "you won't believe the twist" becuase when I first read the summary I knew what it was, and wiki'd it, and of course I was right. Anytime there's any movie ever that won't tell me anything about the plot (and in fact has a whole campaign that commands its audience to silence after viewing), I immediately seek out spoilers. Because I firmly believe if you have to hide the plot, you're probably also hiding a shitty movie. (There are exceptions...but the difference between something like this and something like Inception is that Inception is difficult to summarize for a commercial or even a conversation, but never says "don't let anyone spoil it for you!" And even if they did spoil it for you, you still have to see it for yourself to get the full effect.) So, I found out the plot, and...meh. I'm not that impressed. I'm not saying it would be a bad movie. Many good movies are often by-the-numbers, but I don't think that it's so clever that they couldn't have explained a little more in the commercial or acted like it's so shocking that you should go in 'clean'.
