I would love it if Andrew was stripped of his HRH title and place in line for the throne (kind of like Felipe's sister Cristina was). I really couldn't see this happening - not while the Queen's alive, anyway. I'm not sure it'd happen after, either, as the RF tend to cover up huge scandals as long as they can. Yeah they media think things stink between Will and Harry, as soon as Charles ascends I’m stockpiling popcorn and taking a seat to watch the Chuck and Andy fireworks. I'd pay to watch that. That was fascinating. Thanks for the link! Re: the Queen feeling trapped by Prince Andrew. I wonder if it's because she feels responsible for how he turned out (by having spoilt him as a child) and because she knows he'll get hit by the karma bus* once she's gone. *I have a mental image of Charles as the gleeful bus driver with Camilla as the bus conductor egging him on. |

I agree with all of that. I was just pointing out, that the stories are starting back up in the tabloids, and with each successive story, maybe we'll get a little more dirt on just how bad Andrew really is (instead of using the Cambridge/Sussex kids as cover or going after Meghan for almost everything). I still think Piers is linked to this, so I won't count on the Fail, but I hope other papers start up with the stories. I also don't think Andrew will be stripped of his titles unless something directly incriminating comes up, but once Charles is King, Andrew will fade more into the background. I see his daughters are busy on the social media circuit, posting cute pics of him on the regular, can't take away the bad taste in people's mouths, though. I'm not sure it'd happen after, either, as the RF tend to cover up huge scandals as long as they can. The thing is, they are sometimes sooo bad at it, issuing "We will not respond to that" statements until it's too late, the modern press has gone to print, and they hurry to issue an actual statement, as the Guardian article points out. |

First detailed article I've seen from the UK press about Andy's connection to Epstein. The fact that they went to Thailand (a known tourist hotspot for pedophiles) is the most alarming. I'm also sideye-ing the shit out of Katie Couric.

I posted this in the politics thread. Couric said it was the first and last time she went there and inferred that she was there to try and get an interview with Will and Kate.
I side-eyed the "Andy" and Thailand tidbits. I also thought Woody Allen was there. He's still a friend. What a surprise.
I don't think this is ending well for... Andy.

The fact that they went to Thailand (a known tourist hotspot for pedophiles) is the most alarming. I'm also sideye-ing the shit out of Katie Couric. The only reason he stopped publicly hanging out with Epstein is, that photo put the kibosh on his job as British trade ambassador, Cameron was allegedly angry that Andy was still pals with Epstein after he got out of prison for child rape. Katie Couric will obviously do absolutely anything for a story. I don't know if I've said this before: Andrew will not be able to travel to the US from now on, because federal prosecutors would certainly already have completed paperwork to subpoena him and keep him on American soil for interviews. There's probably an alert on his passport. Up to now, he has refused to be interviewed by law enforcement over Epstein. |

I'm not sure if Charles would go as far as stripping Andrew's title, or if he'd be allowed to, but I think Andrew will find himself well out in the cold as far as the RF is concerned. I don't get the impression Charles is that close to Edward or Anne, either, but those relationships aren't poisoned with repeated stupidity. Anne has her charity work and Edward has taken over a lot of their father's engagements now he's older, but Andrew's other jobs have been overshadowed by what's at best terrible taste in friends and at worst criminal activities.

So Andrew's getting ripped in the tabloids (and I'm good with that). This morning, he went to church with Mummy and now the tabs are running headlines along the lines of "The Royal Family Rallies Around Andrew".
According to Marjorie Orr, Andrews in for a bumpy ride starting at the end of the month and going into 2021.
