I always thought they were divorced in name and on paper only, so to speak. I have to admit, if it wasn’t for the fact that one of the parties in this scenario was Andrew, then this is quite a wholesome romantic scenario. Usually it’s the other way around ie a couple married in name and on paper as a convenience only, but leading entirely separate lives, which as a societal construct is quite cynical and depressing. There’s something sweet about a couple who, due to youthful indiscretions and the Family requirements had to part ways on paper, yet remained married in all but in name. (I’m not saying Andrew isn’t ew and entitled, but I do find something wholesome about this particular aspect of their life story.)

I have also felt it was admirable that Andrew and Fergie remained such good friends. I think at one point Fergie described it as being part of the happiest divorced couple on the planet. No doubt that benefited Beatrice and Eugenie, who both currently appear to have their heads on straight despite their parents being a bit looney.
At the same time, I think there was also some codependence there, and certainly for Fergie the financial and social benefits to remaining a valued part of Andrew's life were part of the allure. She has always had money troubles and needed someone capable of bailing her out and financing her lifestyle. I think she was willing to look the other way quite often as part of the bargain. She was probably more of a throwback to the old aristocracy where couples could put up with a bit of cheating as long as it was discreet. The problem was, both of them struggled with the discretion part in more ways than one in their lives. In some ways they are perfect for one another.

If they do remarry, it will be to rehabilitate his image only. I've always thought Andrew could take or leave Fergie, but she's mad about him (and about being Royal-adjacent).

Laughing at the blurred out numbers to hide it’s full identity because there are so many other Bentleys with “DOY” roaming around England at the moment!

It's a racing green Bentley, surely he could have picked a low-key car and not used DOY on it. At least he didn't show up in a red Jaguar.
