The wyfe just brought me up short when she pointed out to me (via a tweet she saw) that James Bond is no longer on Her Majesty’s Secret Service….. Wow, Traffic is right. I didn't even think about that.

Charles looks so lost during God Save the King these days. It must be weird to suddenly have to remember not to sing the anthem anymore. I was really struck by the emotion on his face at that moment. I can't imagine the enormity of what he was feeling. I've been pretty detached from wanting to follow all the ceremonies but I don't think I'll ever forget his face at that moment.

His answer as Prince of Wales was always, of course I won't be happy when my mother dies. He seemed gutted both last year at Philip's funeral and now at Elizabeths as well. Yeah, he's in his seventies, but losing both his parents in such a relatively short time span must be hard anyway. They were always there. And then they suddenly weren't anymore. The whole family has seemed a bit unmoored, deeply affected on a personal level, which makes sense since they were both around for almost a century. At a certain point you probably start thinking unconsciously they'll just stay forever.

When they arrived at Windsor all those flowers strewn up along the lawn on both sides (in a very orderly fashion) really struck me. Apparently they used flowers that were brought by mourners. The sheer number of flowers was incredible and placing them along the walk way was really touching. (With Emma the pony among them 😢) It just made a profound impact on me, it was just such a beautiful tribute, and lasting image.

What is it about animals? In response to a Telegraph story about Emma the Fell Pony and the doggos, someone tweeted "First stop!! Rainbow Bridge ❤"
NOW I'M CRYING....

Another BBC watcher here. Did they pick only white people to pull the gun carriage, or are the British armed forces predominantly white? Not sure about the exact stats of the armed forces overall, but based on the shots so far of the Navy, I see a handful of POC and women. Not all of them are in frame, so there might be some I'm missing. ETA: I'm referring to those who were standing still around the coffin. Harder to see now they're moving. I finally looked it up, and about 9% of the armed forces are Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic. I think the announcers said there were around 140 naval ratings pulling (and braking) the carriage; I'm guessing the number we saw was more or less proportional to the total. For a while I thought they were chosen because they were all the same height, but a different camera angle told me otherwise.

I had read that volunteers were coming to the various palaces to help remove the plastic around the bouquets, but didn't know that the reason was to create the "flower beds." The gardeners outdid themselves with that.

It has been sad/funny to read the false and misleading claims surrounding the Queen's funeral. I also saw someone who received a message on Instagram from queenelizabeth_3 that said "Hey, it's me Queen Elizabeth. I'm not dead, Charles sent me to a deserted island so he could be king. I don't have access to my royal money, can you Venmo me $300 to I can get back to the UK" ETA - Pallbearer info. These guys did their families proud.
