Has anyone ever frozen dolmades? I have a huge bunch of them that I can't possibly eat.

I just bought some lobster ravioli from Trader Joe's. Mostly because it is stripey and cool looking. Anybody tried it yet? Also, I don't know what to put on it. A white cheese sauce? Just butter and lemon?

A brown butter sauce would probably go well with lobster ravioli. Or, you could go with an easy tomato cream sauce. Reduce some heavy cream, add some diced tomato, chopped tarragon or chive, salt.

Thanks roseland, those both sound like great ideas!
Is anybody else here horrified by the things that people pack in their kid's lunches? I just attended a field trip with my daughter and I was really alarmed by the crap that I saw most of the kids eating. Enough sugar to ruin my day, that's for sure. I'm just surprised that, in this day and age, where it's hard to escape messages about healthy eating, that so many people appear to have such utter disregard for the welfare of their children. This one poor kid had one of those microwave brownie things (on a field trip?), a can of soda, and some chips. He told me "I hate these things", holding up the brownie. I wanted to give him my sandwich, but if course that isn't allowed. I'm so disappointed in people sometimes.

Yesterday I made some checkerboard cookies flavored with Black Onyx cocoa powder (think the almost-black Oreo cookie) and Vietnamese cinnamon. The cinnamon is actually sweet. It tastes like a slightly bitter version of cinnamo sugar. Great stuff.
I also made a crock pot of pintos. Today I'm making split pea soup and cranberry hazelnut bread. I love to fill the house with heat from the oven and great aromas on chilly fall days.

I put six at a time into individual Ziplock bags and freeze them. To thaw, boil water and drop the bag into it until the dolmades heat up. Don't try microwaving (even on defrost) as that will toughen them up beyond edibility.

I made cream-cheese stuffed pumpkin muffins yesterday, and damn were they good! I hadn't made that recipe in at least 10 years and it's still delish.
Today, a BIG pot of seafood chowder.

This morning I made scones with toasted chopped almonds and dried cranberries. Mmmmm.

Yes, chiqui, I'd love the recipe, too! I adore pumpkin muffins and would like to have a recipe other than my standard pumpkin-cranberry.
