I just made couscous with grilled portabello mushrooms, goat cheese, green onion, and dried cranberries. I'm going to serve it chilled. I know it sounds weird, but it's a delicious amalgamation of flavors.

Doesn't sound weird at all. It sounds totally amazing, actually.
The only component that some might argue to be out of place is the green onion, but I put green onion on and in everything, so I'm totally on board with your creation. Yum.

I made Cranberry-Orange Relish for Thanksgiving, and now that we have leftovers I've eaten it on sandwhiches, as a jam, I'm going to make a roasted chicken with it as a sauce...y'all I'm in love;
1 1lb bag of fresh cranberries 2 Oranges--zested, peeled, seeds removed 2 cups of sugar
Puree the cranberries and oranges in a food processor or blender (I did the cranberries first, then added the oranges). Add the sugar, and let sit for a few hours (or overnight) before serving. You'd think that the sugar would overpower the oranges and cranberries, but after letting it sit overnight in the fridge and then out for about an hour before we served it the cranberries and the orange really came through.

Thought about putting this in House and Home, but since it's cooking related...
Batguy and I are renovating our kitchen and so are getting new appliances. There's a great deal on a Samsun stove with an induction cooktop good until Wednesday so I have to decide soon. Does anyone have any experience with induction stove tops? Positive? Negative?
Gas is not an option for us so it's either induction or regular ceramic. Thanks!

I know it sounds weird, but it's a delicious amalgamation of flavors. Doesn't sound weird at all. One of my favorite snacks is spreading goat cheese, dried cranberries, and green onion onto a tortilla, rolling it up and cutting it into slices. It's ever so tasty. It's also good with cream cheese if you don't like goat cheese.

Batmom, we have a single-burner induction appliance that we used during a kitchen remodel, and it is pretty awesome--heats very quickly, good at low heat (important to me so I can melt chocolate without a double boiler), and very safe. We did go with gas for our cooktop, though, mostly because I was reluctant to change out all my cookware at the time (you have to use ferrous pots and pans, as I'm sure you've learned already). Looking back, I sort of wish we'd gone with induction.

Once again, I'm going to suggest Ina Garten's Cranberry Fruit Conserve. It is da bomb and I always buy ingredients for a couple of batches so I can have it with yogurt for breakfast thoughout the year. It freezes and thaws beautifully. I am honestly debating on whether to have for dinner a hunk of leftover pumpkin cheesecake...CHEESECAKE, PEOPLE!...or the cranberry conserve with plain Greek yogurt.

Thanks Granolamom. Interesting note about the low heat - our current stove (that came with the house and which is fairly new, I think) suuuuuucks at low heat. It actually doesn't appear to behave much differently between high and low which is why it's getting the heave ho with the reno, despite being fairly new. It's a pain in the ass to not have a good low setting.
