There are celebrities who divorce, marry and have babies without making any announcement at all. I believe Mike Myers did that. I don't know how he pulled it off, especially because he and his first wife were pretty public as a couple.
The problem is, if Channing or Jenna dated other people and the paparazzi got a photo, then it would be a scandal and people would think they are cheaters. Even if they then admitted retroactively to the separation, everybody would think it was a lie to cover up the cheating. (That's certainly what I'd think!) I think it's better to get out in front of it with as low-key an announcement as possible.
I understand that celebrities want to make it clear that it's a friendly breakup in order to head off tabloid stories, but pretending as if they still love each other like newlyweds despite the divorce is pretty silly.
My pet peeve is when they include in the announcement how long they were together. ("After a wonderful 4 3/4 years, we have decided to transition our relationship into a loving friendship....") I know they want to distance themselves from the JLos and Drew Barrymores of the world who are married for 5 minutes, but it really doesn't prove anything that they were together for a few months or years longer than some other couple.

There's something about this guy I've never liked (yes, I'm the ONE). I sense some sort of try-hardness, coupled with him looking like a Mr. Potato Head that I find unappealing.
Topic? I see him dating someone new within a couple months and her being at least a decade younger than him.

Exactly. I will give mad respect to any celeb in the future who releases a statement to the effect of "We kept arguing all the time and were no longer happy together. We are way too rich and beautiful to put up with this shit anymore, so peace out!" Serious question, though — what would happen if a celebrity couple divorced and just didn't say anything about it to the public? No announcement through a PR flack, no IG post, nothing. Maybe just a polite "no comment" or "please respect our privacy at this difficult time" if asked directly. I feel like I would respect that more than anything. Celebs complain (rightfully so) about overzealous fans who feel entitled to know everything about them, but then they invite people into their personal affairs with announcements like this. I don't think they could go without releasing a statement, as the press would go nuts if one half of the couple were caught making out with someone else. If one half was a civilian, then it could be done.

Chris Pratt and Anna Farris, and Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, and other celebrity couples all have used their "perfect" seeming marriages to their advantage and leveraged them for more fame and adulation with fans. Hence all the "love is dead" posts you see on social media when these people break up. Their red carpet appearances, paparazzi photos, social media posts, interviews, podcasts, lip sync battles, etc. adds to their "brand" in the celebrity marketplace. Then reality reveals itself: they are regular people who struggle to maintain relationships in a toxic environment with a lot of cheating, substance abuse, long separations, objectification, career jealousy and shallowness. They can't just say "we can no longer stand each other and we're getting divorced" because it would be such a blow to the fans that have consumed all of the "perfect couple" BS it would really damage their respective images. Jenna and Channing invited the public into their marriage long before the flowery divorce announcement. Makes me think of Kristen Bell and Dax Shepherd. I wonder if they will be next.

His name is Dax. He is inherently an asshole, right?

I think you can have the same love for each other but realize you need a different, upgraded type of love.
I mean it’s all likely BS but love evolves and people outgrow what they used to need and want. I always thought I wouldn’t have minded being married earlier to have a fun life partner for my 20s and it would be theoretically OK to move onto something more mature later.

I didn’t care about him one way or the other for a long time, but his performance in 21 Jump Street sold me on him. Not attractive to me, but AI can see why people like him. I think it’s his whole package. Seems nice, good body, good dancer, is “attainable”. He doesn’t look like Brad Pitt who seems untouchable.
