I thought from the set-up of Tracy and Kim Jong Il's buddy movie that Tracy would go to Korea and rescue Avery. So, Tracy can go to Korea to rescue Avery and not actually be seen again. Or go to Korea to film another buddy movie. They can receive texts or e-mails or something from him, so Tina can keep writing his lines. And Margaret Cho can continue her Kim Jong Il impression. I enjoyed that!

They could also work the Cabletown plot into writing TM out of the show. Cabletown is going to slash TGS's budget so they have to drop the hugely expensive star. Done.

Chris Rock is either trying to save face or had a change of heart and is now condemning Tracy: I would say Chris Rock was just trying to save face. He followed up that statement with this line. I doubt that Tracy will be written out or fired. I think 30 Rock is not coming back until mid-season anyways because of Tina Fey's pregnancy. The show is probably hoping it will blow over by then. And chances are at least a few other celebrities will say something stupid and offensive by then. It will be awkward if he has any scenes with Cheyenne Jackson who is openly gay. This was his response: Nicely put.

I read about this and was secretly hoping that this was the result of a psychotic break or something because it would be less awful than someone actually meaning that he would kill his son for being gay. My entire immediate family has had psychiatric problems for years and my parents were active in mental health advocacy when I was young so I don't say that lightly.
I guess Tracy Morgan really is that much of an asshole.
The one thing I don't hate about this situation is imagining the audience cheering the homophobia and then slowly going quiet as the rant gets even worse.

I don't get why there is such an uproar now? Have people never heard his routine before? These jokes are nothing new. It surprises me that people are surprised by this and jumping on him for something he has done for years.
I'm not defending what he said. It is offensive. I just don't get why people are just now piling on the TM hate train. Do people only know him from SNL/30 Rock?

They are the only two things I know him from. I didn't find him funny on the former, so I didn't know how or why he managed to be hired on the latter.

My brother in law, a kind, quiet, church going health provider, who got a full ride football scholarship to a Top Ten college, had numerous conversation with us about how much he hated the gays, how it was a choice they made, and if one on his kids was gay, he'd kick them out of the house, disown them, and cut them from his life as if they never existed. The irony? His oldest son is gay, a caring, articulate wonderful young man. We know he's gay, his grandmother knows he's gay, and I just don't think that dear old dad doesn't at least suspect. But no, it was all hyperbole and jock talk on the part of BIL. In the real world, when the rubber hits the road, he loves his son, and while I'm sure he's not happy with the situation, he's not going to disown his son.
Tracy said a stupid stupid thing. Do I think he would kill his son if he was gay? No. Does Tracy advocate killing gays? No. He said a stupid thing. in the heat of the moment, in a room full of like minded audience, he mouthed off. Tina's take was telling. She thought he was too lazy to get mad and go off like that. I'd put in the same category as my father telling his kids if they ever do that again he'd kill them. So I can't get behind all the pearl clutching about the unstable black guy.
By the same token, I don't think that 30 Rock will be affected. By the time the show is back on air, this will be history. There might be people that still remember and hold him up for it, but from what I'm seeing on this site, it will be people that didn't like him in the first place.
But I like Tracy, he's been one of my favorite SNL alumni ever. I love Woodrow the homeless guy and his serenading of pre-crazy Britney Spears ("...take a dodo pie"), I love Brian Fellows and Astronaut Jones. Tracy had a way of embracing the crazy in a gentle, human way. He's the only SNL person to actually make mini-movies, not do skits, in that he WAS the character he was portraying, not Will Ferrell mocking a male cheerleader, Tracy was Woodrow. Maybe only Phil Hartman did as well, and even them, only on occasion. Tracy just seemed to always "go" there, every time.
I don't like Tracy Morgan in 30 Rock, in that I don't like the character Tracy Morgan plays, who is not Tracy Morgan. But I love Tina, and Jane and Alec and the writing staff...it's a great ensemble show, and Tracy is a member and Tracy will not be written out of the show, and the show will succeed or fail based on the show, not on one performer who said a very dumb thing once.
Oh, and on the kidney thing? The donor was an ex girl friend, not current GF, who it seems wanted to get Tracy back by being such a kind, generous, and living person. And he accepted her kidney. But I question her motives if indeed she donated the kidney to as a way of getting Tracy back. Is it so different from having a baby with a guy on his way out to "trap" him? How much do you owe someone who does something as selfless as giving a part of their own body? And how "selfless' is the act if it comes with strings attached? ("Let's get back together...you owe me big time.") But who knows? Ex GF and Tracy may have the kind of relationship where it WAS a selfless act, and she has no problem with Tracy not rushing into her arms?
Just wanted to add a little balance to the Tracy bashing I've seen lately. He's (maybe) not a nice guy, I may not want to date him, but Alec Baldwin is not a nice guy, and I don't want to date him either, but boy do I love his face on my TV! Same with Tracy Morgan.

But my stupid shit NEVER comes close to suggesting that I would kill my gay children because, guess what? It's so far from reality that it wouldn't even cross my mind. I don't think he'd kill his gay son either, but it says a shit-ton about him that it even occurs to him to say that.

That's like saying Michael Richards would never personally join a lynch mob in real life, so it's okay that he told a black audience member he would be hanging from a tree in the old days. Or whatever the exact lynching remark was.

I feel what you're saying, petitesuite, I really do, but while I've never said I'd maim my kids in any way, my husband does, his father does, his brother do, my dad did, my brothers do, and probably most of the male population does. Maybe not necessarily "I'd kill my son if he went gay," but, "If you do that again I'll kill you" or "Touch that and I'll break your arm, and "If my daughter gets pregnant, she shouldn't bother to come home." This may be that far from reality for you to ever say it, but I'd put this kind of hyperbole out of the mouths of the the majority of people in my personal life, male and female.
