One of the things I enjoyed the most was the way the movie kept doing u-turns. Whatever I expected, it went the other way.
Yes, I am 60 years old, but my eyes are just fine, and Ryan Gosling is hot...

Saw this last night with friends and we all really liked it! It's been awhile since I've seen a romantic comedy that was actually funny and had some heart in it!
I thought the film was really well cast and the actors added layers to their characters. Ryan Gosling deserves some serious props for managing to take a character that the audience should hate and make him likable. Julianne Moore also had a character that isn't exactly lovable on paper and yet I did have some sympathy for Emily. Granted I found myself rolling my eyes at her at times (yeah how dare Cal attempt to move on after you tell him you want a divorce and slept with another man) but I never hated her. Also, the actress that played Jessica was the right amount of pretty but awkward still.
When it was revealed that Hanna is Cal and Emily's oldest daughter I was actually shocked. My whole theater was shocked. There were lots of audible gasps and "Whoa! WHAT?!" could be heard. Once I thought about it there were hints throughout the film but they were subtle.
I do have two complaints, one minor and one major. My minor complaint was the film was a little longer than it had to be. My major complaint is the whole Robbie is in love with Jessica was handled horribly. Great message there Hollywood. Hey kids! If a girl tells you stop texting her because you are making her uncomfortable just ignore her if you think she's your soulmate! Eventually she'll come around to your way of thinking and give you naked pictures of herself! Major fail Hollywood!

I hated it. It went on for WAY too long! Marisa Tomei was particularly horrible. At least Ryan Gosling is nice to look at, though.

I loved it.. I hate most chick flicks but I really liked this rom com a lot. Probably because of Ryan Gosling. I don't know, it was a little different than the usual girl meets boy type of scenario with young 20-somethings. Also, THOSE ABS.

Oh my god, this was absolutely awful. I lurve Emma, Ryan and Julianne and actually don't dislike Steve despite my overwhelming hatred of The Office (it sucks. I'm sorry but it does.), but man, this was a waste of a cast. Especially Marisa, who seemed not to exist for any reason except a "bitches be crazy" gag. Which, man, was this film mis-marketed as a comedy. I think if I had gone in expecting a weakly-structured drama about the collapse of a marriage, I would've liked it more, but a romantic comedy it was not. Like ang, I had a massive, massive problem with the son/babysitter subplot, which was twelve kinds of inappropriate. And, you know, total illegal, given that he is a minor and she is giving him naked pictures. Not to mention the inappropriateness and illegality of her wanting to fuck Steve's character.. That was handled really poorly. I also felt it was incredibly overlong -- it seemed like the film was going to end with the shot of Steve walking away in slow-mo through the trees after the big fight at the house. That would've been a better ending IMO.As an Angeleno, I was driven mad by trying to figure out what the ONE BAR in all of LA was supposed to be. Seriously, there were no other locations in which a player like Ryan's character would go to? One of the few bright spots in the movie for me was the first night that Emma and Ryan spent together - the long random drunken conversations that they had felt very natural and unforced. Which may be due to the fact that he says it was mostly improvised. Or the fact that the following BI from BuzzFoto is almost certainly about Ryan and Emma: They were also recently spotted looking coupley while getting FroYo in NYC.

I honestly thought it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I didn't care about any of the characters. Co-sign on this. Even Ryan Gosling's abs couldn't save this movie. I am so glad I waited until this was out on DVD because I would have demanded my money back in the theater.

I've disliked most romantic comedies that have been released in the past decade but I actually liked this movie. A few moments were a little too cliched but I found it charming. I wish we got to see a little more of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling though.

I loved it. I thought that everyone was charming, but I can understand why Ryan Gosling's character fell in love with Emma Stone-- I fell in love with Emma Stone! She was adorable and hilarious.

THIS. Watched this movie last night and I was just riveting by Emma Stone. She really seems to me to be the person I thought Lindsay Lohan was going to grow up to be, at least on film.

I wish the entire movie had been about Emma and Ryan. They were amazing together.
