Just watched the pilot and I liked it. It's not perfect (yikes, the special effects in the boat scene made me cringe!), and I have no idea how long they can keep the premise going... but I am intrigued enough to keep watching.
Very happy to see SMG on my TV screen again - not to mention Richard from Lost!

I'm with you, CB. There's a LOT wrong with what we saw in the first episode, but it looks like there'll be a lot of twists and Smidge seems to be able to pull off the dual roles fairly well. Apparently three full seasons have been mapped out, story-wise, so maybe the twists won't get lost like on, well, "LOST". Also? Carbonell-o-rama.

I agree, it wasn't exactly good but it does have potential. I know Smidge had said that they wanted it to have a film noir feel and I could see that they were kind of going for that even if it is not quite there yet. I think that Siobhan should have been a platinum blond to really get that Hitchcock icy blond look although I don't know if it would suit her colouring.
I like Nestor Carbonell too but I hope they give him something to do other than just be the straight g-man. He is more interesting when he gets to be a little weird.

I watched this, and know that logically it was bad. But there's something about it that makes me want to see what happens so I'm going to stick with it for a while. And I think I'm the most happy to have Ioan Gruffudd in something where he can use his natural accent. "Hornblower!"

Episode 2 was far soapier than Episode 1. The previews indicate the next episode is more thriller/noir. I really hope that as the show settles the soapy elements diminish. I recently re-watched "No Man of Her Own ", a classic noir mistaken identity film, and "Ringer" would do well to go for that kind of a feel. The relationship dynamics have inherent tension because of the setup. When it veers to far into soap territory, the tension disappears. For instance, Bridget dealing with the fact that Siobhan is supposed to be pregnant has more dramatic tension than Andrew's partner accusing her of "trapping" him with a baby.

If this show was on any network other than The CW it would've been canned already. Don't get me wrong, the potential for a really awesome twistfest is there, but I don't think the talent involved can pull off realizing it. And Smidge was totally delivering her lines a la Buffy last night, and not as a late-30s former-trainwreck.

It is weird to think this was originally pitched to CBS, it feels tailor made for the CW. I wonder how different it would have ended up being if it had been picked up by CBS. At the very least it would have better production values. Poor Smidge, not only is she destined to be a tv girl, but apparently she is doomed to be a WB/UPN/CW girl for life.

Didn't CBS pass on it after the pilot though? I can't imagine, after watching it, that CBS would EVER want it! You're right- it seems perfect for the CW. And, I still think it's pretty sucky. I can't believe Smidge left her "movie stardom" for THIS tv show.

Am I the only one enjoying it? I always liked nighttime soaps so maybe that's why.
I like how Siobhan's husband is falling for Bridget. You just know he's got a ton of secrets.
I want to see all the twists. I hope this doesn't get cancelled. How are the ratings?

I'm liking this too. I find it charming and mostly because of the film noir look and feel they seem to be going for. The body in the trunk during the party scene reminded me of Hitchcock's Rope (one of my favorite movies) and I kind of loved the cheesy boat scene in the pilot as well.
