It's also hilariously accurate to the show itself, which makes it even better.

"You pissed off the Chicken Lady!" We loved that, too -- been going around saying it to each other all day!

That's one thing I love about British actresses. They seem to transition into character roles so much more gracefully than American actresses.
It seems as though once they hit forty or thereabouts, they can't wait to slap on old lady wigs and elaborate accents and start playing crotchety aunts and grannies.
Emma Thompson whom it seems just yesterday was playing the lead in Sense and Sensibility, has already slapped on her gray wig and is now playing the older lady confidant to the young ingenue in an upcoming flick.
These women seem to understand that the work is the thing. Not holding on to an image of yourself twenty years ago.

For us Americans playing catch-up, Netflix has the DVDs of S2 available starting Tuesday.
Because who knows when the Christmas Special will air here?

If I'm reading PBS's scheduling correctly the Christmas Special will be aired as the S2 finale. Next week is supposed to be 120 minutes long so that means they are combining ep 7 and 8 together. Feb. 19's ep is also 120 minutes long which is about the length of the Christmas Special.
"Patrick" was so obviously Peter Gordon. You could hear the panic in his voice when he asked Edith what if Peter had joined the Canadian army (I know that wasn't the actual name but that was gist of it). Honestly, what did he expect? That everyone would just take him at his word and not investigate? Edith was the best mark though since she was in love with Patrick and therefore would want him alive. He played it like a classic con. Take what little information you have and exploit it. He stuck to broad statements and Edith was only so happy to provide specific details.
Lavina's return frustrated me the second time around. Does the woman not think for herself? "Oh Matthew says go so I'll go! Oh Carlisle says to come back so I'll come back!" Matthew is going to have to find someone else! He can't count on Lavina to run things due to her lack of backbone! Downstairs is going to eat her alive!
This is the episode where Carlisle officially became dead to me. When you start displaying the classic signs of an abuser I'm done. Still it is disappointing they went this route since I think he had potential to be a great character. Now, all he's missing is a monocle and a twirling mustache.
Did Isobel not notice that Robert is still alive so her son is not the Earl yet? Good God woman!
I doubt Bates killed Vera so the question is who did.
