The best sketch comedy in years is on Fridays on IFC. Fred Armisen is MILES better than he is on SNL. Carrie Brownstein is surprisingly hilarious. The first season is Netflix Streaming. Best of all? The astonishing, tone-setting, laugh-out-loud Dream of the 90s that opened the Pilot is now the basis for a new song/sketch in tomorrow's episode. Love it. (And, hilariously, many of those trends are actually now hipsterish.)

I LOVE Portlandia, to the extent that I'm advocating it strongly, especially among my, "Oh, I don't watch tv [on a television]" friends. I love the feminist bookstore, but most of the sketches have made me howl. I was disappointed in the baseball one, but that's ok.

Would you like to Lobsterize your meal?
Also, the One Moore Episode is awesome not only for BSG fans, but for anyone who has had a hardcore DVD/streaming marathon of a TV show. That was pretty much my sister and Lost three Christmases ago. She watched the first three seasons in, like, 6 days.

One Moore Episode cracked me up. I love that they decide to track Ronald Moore by looking him up in the phonebook, then track down the first Ron Moore listed, then that guy actually rolls with and agrees to write an episode. On the computer in his closet. Then they all get addicted to Dr. Who in the end.

It reminds me of Kids in the Hall.
The feminist bookstore is my favourite recurring sketch.
I also liked the one with the couple who hired Aimee Mann as their maid. They were so starstruck, but then they accused her of not doing a good enough job on their stove, shrinking a sweater to doll size, and stealing.
I really like the actor who played the guy at the mobile phone store and a waiter in a later episode. The way he rattled off the absurd number of cell phone plans and restaurant menu items was really funny.

The Eddie Vedder tattoo talking to Carrie cracked me up more than anything else. I am totally in love with Fred Armisen on this show. I love the "Freegan" couple too - "why does nobody ever come to our pot lucks?"

Wasn't there also Sarah McLachlan as a competing maid?
The Mayor's cute assistant is Portland's actual mayor. (Openly gay and named Sam Adams. He's a beer AND a cute boy!) I think Kyle as the Mayor returns this episode.
They do a really good job with their celeb cameos/guest stars.

Adore Portlandia. I'm so thrilled that I was able to catch up and watch it on Netflix in time for the 2nd season.
Put a bird on it!

We can pickle that!
Poor Sarah was their landscaper. They made a human effigy/pinata and bashed it to smithereens to impress a very horrified Aimee.

I started watching as a "Hey, I know where that is..." spot the location game, and just kept watching as it's so original and hilarious.
